If you just broke off the peg, you can get someone to bolt on a new one. Even if you can't wait, you should save it as a spare for next time. New ones cost $50-60, or slightly less through an online dealer. Of course, you will have to wait for them to be shipped. A friend in Concord charges $25 to repair them.

Also, you can post on ncsvr.com (http://ncsvr.com/) if you you don't get a response here. You might have an easier time finding someone close to you. :D

Try ronayers.com[I think that'a correct] for oem stuff.
I do believe the same part is shared by SV and GSXR
I heard of a good fix : drill or press out original piece, drill and tap in 8[?]mm threads and bolt up a peg feeler. If nothing else, keep it for a spare, as this is a common problem with SV:vulnerable shift lever.

i just look at shift levers at both ronayers.com ($50)
and oneida suzuki ($43)

i need one for a 2002 sv650 but looking at prices for replacements i think i'll just drill a hole and put in a
decently sized screw. what do you guys think?

You want something that won't cut or tear your shoe / boot. My friend has a dremmel, so he can make a peg with an aluminum dowel, but most people don't have a dremmel... It's possible that you could use a bolt with either a shank (I think that's the right term) or just file down the exposed threads, using a nut on each side to hold it in place, and I would round out the bolt head too.

Yes, a round-head bolt and two nuts... sounds like a recipe for (re)production!
