I was just curious what everyone does for work/school on here. I know some of the group but there are several of you that I've never met.

I'm an Associate (Electrical) Engineer with L3-IEC in Anaheim.

Just finishing up my first year out of college and so happy to have this job.

Who's next?

Certified Party Animal? Ha, ha, good guess. But nope, Certified Public Accountant (zzzzz, borrrrring!)...presently on an extended financial consulting gig at Master Financial in Orange, CA.

Well I guess you could say I watch other people work. Occasionally lending a hand with difficult jobs. (kidding......sort of)
I don't really consider what I do work. I get paid to do something I enjoy. I get to design stuff for t-shirts and hats all day.

I was in grad school @ UCSD. Worked as a hardware engineer for a year. Now I can't find a worthwhile job :(

Oh well, more riding time for me :p

Jimm,
Can you hook me up with a job? I'm an (unemployed) Elec.l Engr. as well... Sorry about that Packers comment BTW, but I'm a Bears fan ;)

If you want my resume, drop me a note at bwarbiany@hotmail.com, and I'll forward it...

You've already sent me your resume man and I put it in with my manager and the HR people. The only problem is that I just finished my first year here and I have ZERO clout! I wish I could be more help... especially since I get a decent bonus if they hire someone I recommend!

And don't worry about being a Bears fan! I love the Bears! In fact, I cheer for every team in the NFC North (formerly NFC Central) as long as they're not playing the Packers.

That brings me way off topic, but do you know what the Bears are naming their new stadium? I really hope the call is Soldier Field or something like that.

Actually, I hadn't heard that they were getting a new stadium. Chances are, whoever is ponying up the money is also paying for the rights to the name though...

Damn shame though, Soldier Field, as far as I could remember, was pretty nice. Let's just hope they don't build a dome. Then the Packers fans could give us serious grief :)

I was working @ Jamba Juice.

Last dec. I was laid off from my REAL job, I was an Attorney's Assistant/Non school trained Paralegal who also was the resident Network Admin...

I generally do computer work but have had little luck finding anything that would even be slightly self esteem supportive lately ...

i don't know if any of you are aware of this website:
losangeles.craigslist.org
i think that's the url
this is a free community site...seems to cater to the computer oriented crowd...there is a jobs section that might be of assistance to anyone in the market for a new one (it's still pretty small compared to it's original site in san francisco www.craigslist.org but hopefully will someday be as useful)

oh, and, i'm the assistant to the general manager of a public radio station (KLON 88.1FM...don't go there unless you like old people's music :p straight ahead jazz, blues on saturday and sunday, latin friday evenings)

Been doing this since 1989 and have worked with various game companies. I do mostly 3D work now, but back in 89, it was just 2D computer graphics. The cool thing about working at small game companies was I got to design games, do manual illustrations, write manual stuff, even do the music.

Last company I worked for was Blizzard Entertainment in the Film department (Warcraft III and World of Warcraft)....hey War III is coming Tuesday night at 12am at Fry's!!!

Now I work for NVidia...fun stuff.

So many elec. engineers out of work here. I just graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with my EE degree, and can't find a job either!

The market isn't looking too good for us right now. Hardly any So. Cal listings for EE type jobs on hotjobs.com.

In case anyone wants to have a peek at my resume, it can be found here:

You can say that again....

I used to answer phones all day long at the LA Times... I mouthed off once too many times... got lost in a couple re-orgs in the IT Dept. and landed in the last job on earth I should have been in, phone support. At the last re-org I got my wish - buy out.

Thouht I'd be employed by now, 1 year latter, but NO-o-o-o-o.

Problem right now is I don't know what I wana do when I grow up and I'm finding that age discrimination in the work place is real... between a rock and a hard place.

Something creative, no heavy lifting, loads of percs and high compensation...

ARGH!

Project Manger for HP Consulting - primarily in software development, usually traveling 5 days a week to such exotic places as Seattle, Denver, San Jose, etc.

Looking to change soon so my kids can move in on a permanent basis! :)

I'd invite resumes from the EE's, but the Compaq merger has significantly affected openings at HP. Maybe later!

Sometimes you just don't end up where you would think...........

I got a degree in Quality Engineering ( mainly gears toward aerospace ), but couldn't find a job in the field. Didn't know anyone. What really annoyed me is that there were guys who obtained a job in my field (quality engineering) and their degree was in "history" or "physical education".......... just because they know somebody................ how screwed up is that?

Anyway.......... go figure........... I ended up with a job as a chemist for a pharmaceutical company...................... a chemist with an engineering degree ............... ironic.

Would love to get a call one day........ " Hey, how would you like to go work on the F-22?".................. yeah.... right.

Used to work as a musician. Did session work for people from Quiet Riot to Bonnie Pointer, was a staff instructor at Musicians Institute(MI, specifically GIT..Guitar Institute of Technology) in Hollywierd, and wrote columns for some guitar mags, gigged all over the place, etc., etc..
I now own a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store which is what my wife and I have been doing for the past 6 years. Wierd huh?
