Ya! they're gonna make copies so there is enough of me to go around. :D :p hehe

We can discuss YOUR price off the forum. The regular selling price will be around $100.

Get an FSD!
Just playin!
If you got the price for $80 bucks black and $110 painted you would make a killing. But if not the best of luck to ya. Most undertails now only cost 100 shipped. Now only if you had a buddy who owned a paint and body shop? Thats the only thing that I really get hooked up for

I have access to a paint booth, paints custom ordered to match, and i can get and send shipments across the world. You can ship them to me, i will paint them to match the stock SV colors, and send em back. I will paint each undertail for $2,500.00 each. and have them back in three days from day of receipt. oh yeah, i only accepts lots of 100. thanks! look forward to your call!

The undertails will be made of black ABS plastic. Same as the stock bodywork. The only difference is the stock bodywork is injection molded. My undertails are thermo formed. (vacuum formed, same thing)

Punk, do you really have access to a spray booth?

Punkbrad

no, i do have a guy who paints all my bikes and such, but if i told you that i paid 700 bux to have a schwinn stingray painted, you all would think that im crazy.... and that hes mad expensive.. or both..

I think you have the formula wrong, it's how many undertails to not get kissed by kurt.

Looks sweet!

Burst,

I am the Production Manager for a custom injection molder... we do mold some thermoplastic materials (ABS is thermoplastic). Do you already have a molder? Is the mold paid for? We usually run thermoplastics in a 50 or 125 ton clamp pressure machine. It looks like it would take at least a 250 ton machine to mold something of that size, which we have 300 ton thermoset machines that may be converted. What are you paying for material? Do you have a product name? AVP, Celstran, CYCOLAC, Denka, ESPREE, SLCC? Maybe my company could hook you up cheaper. Let me know. My name is Erik. Company is Rakar, Inc. (805) 487-2721

Erik,
I am doing the production myself. The machine I am using is a 2 foot by 4 foot bed vacuum forming machine. It has way more than enough vacuum to serve our purpose. I actually broke the first mold because I was not careful with the vacuum level.

As far as materials go, I am having a hard time finding ABS that is smooth on both sides. Right now we are buying through Rideout Plastics in Kearny Mesa. They only have the textured stuff available.

Here is what I need.
4X8 sheets of black abs 1/8th inch thick.
I has to work well with automotive paints.

If you can supply us with this or refer us to a supplier that would be great. Thanks,

Have you tried San Diego Plastics in National City?

I purchase most of our thermoplastics through GE Polymerland. I'm not sure if they supply material in sheet form. They have a website, www.gepolymerland.com. They also provide technical support for issues like your problem with the lack of smoothness. You will have to register. I hope that helps.

Just going through the post and was curious if you found the material you wanted, give me the details and let me ask my dad, I know he deals with plastics.

Update on the undertails....

We are just about set for production. Just had to iron out a few flaws in the final mold. We will begin production on them Saturday. If anyone wants to pre-order you are welcome to. Tho, I would really like for you guys to see before you buy. I know I would rather do it that way. I will have one on my bike painted by Wednesday or Thursday next week.

Pricing will be, $90 if you pick it up, $100 shipped. (unpainted)
I do not think I will be offering them painted as I am not set up to be able to paint them for a reasonable price. I can refer you to a few people in the San Diego area that do good work and could probably give a pretty fair price. I will get a quote from both shops and let you guys know.

If you still have your damn fender, get rid of it! Just had Gregg install one of his undertrays on my bike today and I have to say that I am very impressed. It looks great and gregg was cool enough to install it for me considering the fact that I was to nervous to cut into my bike thats not even a week old. Gregg thanx again.
