So I crashed a bit ago and bent my front right fork tube. I bought some new forks, well used ones, and some race tech springs and emulators.
I have a couple questions for those who know:
What seals if any do I need to replace if all seals look ok and there were no leaks before hand.
What special tools should I use? I see that a fork seal driver is pretty important, any others?
Is there anything special to getting the inner tube and fork seal out? I took the spring and whatnot out, but that fork tube doesnt seem to want to come out, and I am to nervous to just bang on it. The service manual just says to remove the fork tube, but doesnt get too desciptive.
I called ECC and they quoted me 2 1/2 hours to rebuild them. That seems very long as I already got curious and took the right one apart (for the most part), and it only took like 10 min. If you have done it, how long did it take you?
If anyone is willing to help me out that would be great. I would rather buy the tools and have someone show me how to do it for next time(or next bike). Plus it would save me a couple hundred bucks to boot.
So basically I have:
Bent set of forks
new set of forks
race tech springs .85
2 quarts of 15w fork oil
gold valve emulators
If you can tell me what I need or if someone can directly help me out, I will be in your debt.
