Run DMC's been a major influence in all kinds of modern rock and rap. This news is a bummer.

When i was a kid in the early 80's the very first concert that i ever went too was Run DMC. I had the Fila high-tops with the fat laces, parachute pants and my Nike muscle shirt. I will never forget that. This is truly saddening to see so many people strike their fists in violent fits of jealousy over something that is supposed to bring people so much happiness; music.
Run DMC stood for equality, truth, faith in God and education.
Peace be with you Jason Mizell.

The news of his death was one of the first things I heard on the radio when I woke up this morning, and I thought to myself . . . Who?

I heard about it last night and am trying to think about it.
He seemed to be a good man. This news truly sucks.
Jam Master Jay was old school and RUN DMC still "rocks" even now.
another homey lost

Yeah, Run DMC was back before rap got hard core and people in suburban mainstream distanced themselves from it... DMC and the beasty boyz...
I was much shorter then...

That was the first rap album I ever heard....still love it. It's just too bad that aside from Eminem, most of the artists you hear on the radio are just "hip hop", not real rap.
