I am 6' 2" and weigh 170lbs. I have no idea how to size myself for leathers. I wanted to buy a pair of these...
http://www.newenough.com/teknic_lightning_1pc_suit_page.htm
but teknics doesn't make leathers my size?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
-Rob

your size is 44 or 46.problem is all leathers fit different even they are same size.
only right way is to try first.

your a 46 only because of the height easy, go find a dealer who sells teknic and size your self up if in doubt.

Also check Motorcycle Wherehouse online. They blow out leathers cheap. I picked up a set of $600.00 AGV leathers for $259.99 but was also looking at the same suit you are at New Enough

According to The Teknic website you are a 46

IM 6' 4" 200 lbs and the Frank Thomas size 46 fits me well, the 44 was a bit snug for me, but would probably be just right for you, and this same time last year Cycle Gear had them on sale for $379, might want to look into it again this year.

in an alpinestars you would most likely be a 44, and astars stuff is cut on the small side. so a 44 in teknic is probably the right size.

You could also get a custom made suit. Z Leathers isn't the only custom shop in LA.

there's no way in hell a 44 in that model will fit you.

i'm 5' 11" and about 190 lbs. i bought the 44 lightning from new enough a couple of years ago. it was too short for me and they were out of the 46 at the time. i sent it back and they refunded my money and i only had to pay for shipping which was $10 each way. i think the 46 will be too short for you. buy the 46 or 48 and try them on if they don't fit send them back and have them ship you the other size.

every brand and model will be different so you will have to try them on. you might take a 44 in one brand and a 48 in another.

get the leathers that are skin tight so you have no drag, they make you look buffer then you are or find a pair you can squeeze into that are on sale........:D

As mentioned above go find some at a local dealer and try them on....also try the size up and down form what the sales man recommends....

hmmmm... so the underlying theme is sense here is:

What size am I? Who the F%^* knows! Its too bad that companies can't develop any kind of standard for fitment. Maybe I should start my own...

Thanks guys,

Rob, I have that same suit. Bought from New Enough. Here's what I did:

I bought 3 suits. One in my "supposed size", one size smaller and one size bigger. They send me all three suits. I try on the middle one and its tight in the jewels, So the smaller on is out! Next I try the larger and yea it fits but leather stretches and it already looked like I had a load in my pants. I went with the middle one tight in the jewels. I sent the other two back. NewEnough were totally cool with this and didn't even charge me a restocking fee. And it did'nt even show up on my credit card!!

Now several month later, the leathers fit perfectly, my jewels are fine and I even got a compliment on how well they fit. NICE!

I do this now with all my mail order clothes.

ok, but what about us tall skinny guys.......... Im 6'2 and 155 wet. I have a hard enough time finding a jaket that fitts well enough around my abdomen and is still long enough in the arms

I just bought a 40 sized Lightning jacket from Newenough and the jacket is tight.. (normally I wear a 38) so I'm wondering just how much it will stretch? It's tight on my 5'9 frame but in the shoulders - everything else is perfect -- should I keep it and hope it stretches? I"m wondering if the 42 would be too big..

Ideas?

well you need the leathers to fit you when you are riding and I am assuming you don't stand up much when you are riding. My leathers were the same way, but they broke in and are a bit less "restrictive".

When I bought my 1 piece 5 years ago I was told to get the tightest suit I could fit in as, "If you get it just 1 size too big it'll stretch out and the arse will be around your knee's."
Well, I got a Dainese that was just on the tight side of tight, it still hasn't stretched a single bit! WTF!?!
It's cut to fit just right when I'm in a crouch on the bike but standing up in it makes me look like a gorrilla/neanderthal.
Oh, also wearing a jock strap under the suit has saved 'my boys' from pain on many occasions.

yup, I had that same exact suit also....I'm 6' tall and weigh 160, and the 42 was just a little short for me, but fit great in the upper body areas. I was going to return it because at first it was so uncomfortable..... but becasue it was new and not broken in, I decided to keep it. It broke in a little but was still not right, so I got rid of it.

For us people that are built like rails, going custom may be the best way to go. I'm looking into Z for my next suit.

You may even want to try the "Cheaper" leathers. I am very happy with my "Frank Thomas" one piece. I got it on sale for 300. I will take another one any day. Just a thought...:D

For some reason the Frank Thomas are uncomfortable in the knees for me so I wanted to try another brand. :(

I think I found a winner!http://www.newenough.com/teknic_2003_chicane_1pc_suit_page.htm

Should a 46 fit me!?!? I am 6'2" with a 32 waist. I think I will definately order one if it fits ok.
