My friend started a new board. He was bored. So check out the result of his having too much time on his hands. http://socalareariders.com/forum/

I just wonder, why do some people decide to start new boards, when we've already got approximately a crapload of them, particularly in socal? SocalSV and socalsportbikes come to mind immediately as boards for southern california riders, but i'm sure there are more.

A lot of my non-SV riding buddies think it's kinda lame to join a bike-specific site when you don't have that bike.
I know there are prolly more non-SV riders than SV riders here now, but that doesn't change the fact that it still seems lame to join an SV site when you have a 929.
I used to direct people to Hypercycles, which is sort of a sister site to this, but it was always down when I did that, so I quit.
Plus sometimes rides get organized locally and we don't find out about it. So that is a reason to go to other boards.

well, the SV board was just an example. The Socalsportbikes board, however, seems to already fit the niche of "boards in socal for riders" that this new board is trying to also fill, without really adding anything new that the SCSV didn't have.
i guess an appropriate analogy would be building an ice-skating rink across the street from an ice-skating rink - it's pretty much redundant.
