So tonight my buddy comes over to help me install my new Ermax fender eliminator.

We set about getting the tail section off when we run into a problem. I accidently stripped the front two screws that hold the tail section on. We tried to cut a new slot in the screw with the new dremel, but that didn't work. We thought about drilling the screw, but decided against that.

We aborted the mission, put the bike back together (which wasn't much at this point) and cleaned up.

So does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get those two stripped screws out? I'm thinking I just might have to take them to a shop to get drilled out and then get some replacements. Any other options?

ask Racin teach..he helped me get my stripped bolts off in the same place hehe....what he did is he got a dremel with this little saw thingy..then he cut a groove in the bolt's head and used a flat head screwdriver to screw it out...i suggest replacing them with something a bit more sturdier

When all else fails before drilling, try using impact driver in the dremil slot. This has worked for me a few times, but........the last resort which has not failed me yet on a seized bolt or screw, is to use a small sharp chisel to chisel the outer edge of the bolt or screw counter clockwise.
The first few taps bite into the metal and build a lip that you can keep tapping counter clockwise until it breaks free..
For small screws (1/4") A drill chuck can work better than vise grips or pliers, if the screw is assessable. you open the chuck lower on the screw and hand tighten the chuck on to the screw, and then reverse the drill removing the screw. (I use a 18.v cordless)
I hope these tips help, I know stuck bolts, and screws can be frustrating, Good luck!!

So the threads are ok, it's just the head that's stripped? If that's the case then try that impact driver. I use one all the time and they work great.

Had the same problem.

Went to Home Depot.

Bought an EZ Out for like 4 bucks.

It's like a drill bit with reverse threads. You drill IN and the screw wants to pull OUT at the same time. Works wonders.
