I bought a pair.
Didn't fit me.
You have to be a skinny little kid for that ish to fit.
The design is pretty good, the knee and the shin are seperate pieces and attached together via neoprene to allow movement.
Aside from that, the pieces don't really look all that sturdy. I mean, they aren't even CE rated: which is like, super easy to do for limb protectors.
There aren't any hard parts...everything is "kinda" hard....like, soft plastic or whatever.....what looks like "carbon fiber" isn't. It's carbon fiber print under a clear coat of rubber....I have no idea what they meant by "abrasion resistant" side paneling cuz everything looks like it'd grind down pretty quick in a fall. The only redeeming factor is the padding itself....about 5-10mm of rubber foam in a honeycomb patter--which, so far in my research on the net, is a pretty common configuration for energy absorption for "soft" protectors.
I promptly returned mine to New Enough.
I did keep my pair of Icon Field Armor Shorts though, only cuz my doc said I should ride with compression shorts to keep the kids off of the tank and seat. I figured I might as well have a little kevlar around there too.

wow... $65 of those? I dunno... You can get a decent set of Motocross shin guards for way less than that. I bought some for pocketbike madness, but they fit under jeans as well... and only $20... They're a little less bling, but they do have hard plastic on the outside, and I haven't lost a kneecap sofar :p

Hi,
I'm just a lurker here. I don't own an SV. But someday I will. I recently bought a pair of these Icon Field Armor Leg. So here's my 2 cents:
I'm 5' 7" and 143 lbs. These armors "fit" me OK. They feel comfy enough. The upper most velcro strap has to be stretched quite a bit to close. For those with big calf muscles, it may not work. The shin guard extends all the way down to the ankle. This is somewhat problematic when you're wearing boots, cause you'll have to push the guard up in order to zip up your boots. For a taller person, this is less of a problem, I imagine.
I bought these for wearing under my jeans when I'm buzzing around town.....i.e. no freeway riding. If you wear the typical straight leg jeans like Levi's 501, you won't be able to slip the pants outside the boots. And you can't stuff your pants inside the boots because there's no room left (the shin guards occupy that space). Get some baggy jeans or "carpenter" style jeans instead.
Yup, they're are not CE approved. But they are better than nothing. I like wearing jeans when I ride on city streets. These Icon leg armors give me some peace of mind. Of course, when I hit the freeways, I put on real motorcycle pants.
Hope this helps.

A stars makes a neat looking bionic knee.

Eh, not really. It's like spandex in the crotch to keep em cool. but there's kevlar on the thighs and hips and arse and basically everywhere else. Pretty sturdy feeling too.

Looks good for BMX or maybe motocross.
Overpriced, though.

i think alpine stars makes CE certified shin armor..but it's for motocross...still will be better than the icon..and it's not like anyone will see it under your pants
