I did a de-snorkle today on my '03SVN, but instead of removing it outright I cut it. I was still worried about water getting in, despite everyine reporting that it's not an issue. I don't have a car so I ride in the rain very often during the winter. Anyway I just cut it at the elbow in an upward slice, leaving the rubbing facing forward intact and cutting everything else out, including the divider. Intake is now about as loud as my stock exhaust.
