I need to get winter gear (gloves, etc) I'll be driving 60 hwy miles daily to & from work & don't want to freeeeeze! (Palmdale to Burbank & back)
I've heard of GORE-TEX products for knees & neck, but I'm not sure what the "best" gloves are. I'm looking for good hand mobility as well as keeping my hands warm for around $35.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
J.

Mmmm,I have a pair of Frank Thomas Aqua gore tex gloves. I dont recall how much they cost, but once I get accustomed to the padding etc vs my leather gloves they are just fine.
I am really susceptible to colder weather so my fingers still manage to get cold, I'm sure another layer with thin glove liners could help fix that tho.

try stuff from "Whitehorse press" ( whitehorsepress.com..I think??)- their "Chuck Roast" brand of Polar fleece stuff is pretty good - the simple neck warmer ( ~$18) works good to stop the cold air going down your neck- and then to the rest of your torso

try using a good old bandanna. I tie mind around my lower face.
1. fold the bandanna in a triangle
2. place it under the mouth
3. have the "v" part hanging down to your chest area
4. tie the bandanna around the back of neck.
5. it works well w. the helmet and its comfortable.
Let me know how it works...good luck

Electric gloves. But they're usually more than $35.

Burst had a crazy commute in some super cold weather. He had an electric vest I think and some heated grips. PM him and see what his set up was.

After spending the past 15 years in Colorado and being back in SoCal, I've conditioned myself to ride in weather as cold as 35F and have established a plethora of gear. The best combination I've found for cold and/or wet weather is my FirstGear Kilimanjaro jacket, matching pants w/ liner, TourMaster winter riding gloves, a thin balaclava and one of those spandex covers that fits into the bottom of the helmet to cut the wind from coming up onto your face.
I highly recomment the Aerostitch catalog to peruse...
Keep warm!

They're $35 at Cycle Gear right now. I've been using them for a few months, but just replaced them yesterday because the gauntlet portion doesn't go high enough up the arm to keep the wind out. If I really crack the throttle open, the gauntlet will slip out and leave me with a cold breeze shooting up my sleeve. Otherwise, the warmth and cut were much better than the kinda crappy Joe Rocket Comet gloves I replaced them with.
My JR Comet jacket, on the other hand, is nice & warm and completely waterproof.

You could get a set of brushguards from a VSTROM and some heated grips http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Rider/heated_grip_kit1.htm...
