I got some new rubber today. OH MY GOD WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
I got the 010 up front and the 020 out back. The bike just wants to turn now. I forgot how much better the bike handled when the rear tire was still round. A square tire made it much more work to turn......
So who is gonna come on Sunday to Ortega (aside from rod, where else would he be on sunday morning)
I gotta get these things scrubbed in and test em out on the twisties........

Thank you Leigh for letting me make use of your tools and such and for driving me around today. ;)
Let me know when you want to get your stuff from storage. You are welcome to use my truck...

I'll probably take you up on the truck offer.
You are very welcome ... :) :) I am happy to help ... besides I feel a buttload better knowing you are on SAFE tires!!

Exactly how much is a "buttload"? I mean one persons "buttload" could be a bigger "buttload" than another persons "buttload".
So I guess what I am getting at is, measurements made in "buttloads" aren't really precise are they? :D

I got the tires at Cycle Gear in Fullerton. they were $179 for the pair. Mounting and balancing was $11 per wheel. They won't do them if the wheels are still on the bike though.... Have to remove them at home.
I thought this to be a good deal. Anyone seen a better price elsewhere?

You mean you bouth the tires there and they would only mount & ballance them if you removed them yourself AND paid them $11 a tire?
For mount/ballance off the bike that's a good price. But I guess I'd pay more for the tire IF they mounted them on the bike for free. I'm just lazy.

Congrads on the tyres. I think you'll feel a big diff when we hit Ortega............ especially in the confidence factor.
Who's next in dumping those nasty Mez4s??
:D

They do not have a service bay..... Just a tire machine. I would rather just remove to wheels myself anyway. You end up paying anywhere from $20-$40 labor for them to do the tires when they are on the bike.
I don't trust anyone to do any work on my bike... sort of anal like that. When I had Temecula Motorsports patch the old rear tire they didn't even mount the wheel back on the bike straight. They also over inflated the tire.... I don't trust any grease monkeys. Unless of course I know them personally and know they have to ability to do the work properly.

Gregg, what made you choose that combination instead of doing the same front/rear?

Harder rear. Longer wear.
I commute a long way.... The Mez4s had 9500 miles on them. That was mostly in about a 4 month time span. I wanted stickier tires but did not want to be buying a new rear tire every month. So the 020 rear and softer 010 on the front.
I still cannot believe how much better the bike handles with the new tires.... and I have not even hit any twisty stuff yet.

Well considering I have ample buttage, I'd say my buttload is probably a decent amount ...

As if weights aren't already arbitrary!
A buttload would be quite easy to figure, if we took one person's buttload and went with it, that would be the standard buttload. However, we'd still have people haggling for assloads and craploads, which would be more or less, depending on your meaning.
Look at how we measure horses...we measure them in 'hands'. How big is the hand? If I child measured a horse, would it attract attention from the Guiness Book of World Records?
In England, they measure a person's weight in 'stone'. How big is the stone? I mean, what would I weigh, a stone, three pebbles and a rock?
I guess a buttload measurement isn't so weird...but this whole post is a load of crap. ;)

By the way Gregg, that's why I upgraded my tires! I consider it to be a performance upgrade...just coz there's tread left on crap tires is no excuse. I have a perfectly good tennis racket which sucks ass...should I use it till the strings break? No way! :) Ah yes, but that's just me...it's not worth less grip for the sake of a $120 piece of rubber which will give me better grip. :) I mean, the whole bike is what, $6400, and the only thing holding it to the road (besides physics) is the rubber...so ye might as well get the best, even if it wears more quickly than stock. :)
