I had my airconditioner looked at today because the air it was blowing wasn't that much cooler than the ambient temp. When a thermometer was stuck into the vent, it read 65F.
The technician told me that there is nothing wrong with the airconditioner, except that it's too small for the house. He said I have a 3 ton unit, and I need a 4 ton unit to properly take care of 2000 square feet (the size of my house). He said the rule of thumb is 1 ton for every 500 square feet.
So what this means is that I need to buy an new unit  . It will cost around $1400 for a new unit and to get it installed.
So basically I'm asking " if this technician is full of shit, or is he giving me the straight dope " ?
:D
