This poll is a little more specific to those of us who's first street bike was the SV650.
Okay, so you've learned how to ride on the wonderful budget commuter, now what? What do you want your next bike to be? A race replica? A touring bike? A cruiser? Or nothing, you'll always ride this SV until it goes off to motorcycle heaven.
I would really like to get a VFR Intercepter, like a 2000 model (no V-Tech). They're great bikes for hitting up the back roads and comfy for that 100 mile ride to Palomar (if the mountain is still open by the time I get this bike). A bit heavy for the track, but I'll have another bike for that.
When it comes to racing, a 600 is the obvious step up from the SV. A TZ250 would be pretty rad, but I don't want to have to deal with all the motor maintenance of a 2-stroke. An i4 1000 is way out of the question for a couple of years, if ever. Whatever the next race bike will be, I'll still be doing this season and next season on the SV.
So anyways, enough about me. Vote (and you can vote more than once if you're like me and plan on having multiple bikes :) ).

Great. Then you can crash the shit out of that, too, and make it a WTFGSXR750.

I didn't really know what to classify the Speed Triple as...so I put other. I will at some point in my life own another Triumph...who knows..by then maybe a "classic" 04 Speed Triple that I'll decide to restore. :p

I'm thinking about the SV1000 or a VFR. Something with more guts. I would like my next bike to be bigger in displacement. It will probably be used more for touring. Higher torque engine and some wider shifts would be nice.
The SV will make a great track bike.

For me SV650S is very good. I don't need other bike so i'll drive it until it die. But if should choose other bike it would be for sure V2. My favorite bike always will be Ducati 748 or 996/998 cause the way it looks.
Aprilia RSV1000 would be a nice alternative too.

I'll be going R6 or similar for my next bike.. prolly R6 because that's the bike I've wanted to have.. so unless I find something better....

I'm torn between the R6 in black or the ZX6R in titanium. Either way I have to wait until August so the insurance will be more reasonable (1 year of having my M1 endorsement).

Next bike will be an RC51.
I'm torn,
rc-51 for the 1000 sport twin
busa for a tourer
newly styled triple for a neked
If I could only have all of the above.

An RC51 would be very nice, but if you're going to buy one I suggest acting quickly. I can't imagine that Honda's going to keep it around for too much longer. The CBR1000RR is what they're racing in WSBK and it sells better to boot.
The Vee-twin is going to be taking a bit of a beating in the production racing scene until something comes about to make it viable again. (Probably making the fours go back to 750cc)
Also, My next bike may very well be the next generation BMW R-S, when they fit the 1200cc hex-head engine into it, but that's still a long time away. I love my SV and I still have to pay off my student loans.

Have you seen the new Triumph Sprint ST? Hotness.
The VFR should feel very familiar if just in riding position. It has an upright riding style similar to the SV 650.
It's a sport tourer though, through and through. Bulkier, heavier.
I had the '91 (I think) when they had white rims and only came in red.
Buy a Gold Wing with the optional Nintendo rally pack..

I guess this falls under the 1k race replica. Picked up a 98 Ducati 916

You know, I have given this a lot of thought. I actually got a second bike: My 2006 Ducati Sport 1000 and I am going to sell it since it's not what I really want.
The ones that are on the top of my list are:
848 too dang expensive right now
1125R not as pricey as the 848, but close and I don't trust it yet.
749 749s <- this is probably what I will eventually get if I can gather the cash, they are renowned for their rock star handling and not too expensive.
RC51: nice but they are heavy as hell, but available for not too much scratch.
SV1000 <- this is a nice inexpensive alternative and we all know it will last forever.

DEFINITELY try the 749 before you buy. It's not everyone's cup of tea; riding position is brutal, and it's not nearly as quick on turn-in as the Japanese bikes ...

....yeah, get an SV thou in as late a model as you can (low mileage)...you really will not regret it....how many reasons do you need in favour....the first and most obvious is the price....gotta be the best value thou on the market, and you have to be a pretty good rider to reach it's limits, on either the track or out on the highway....am I just biased because this is what I have?....you bet your arse I am...and rightly so as I believe this is the most satisfying ride I have ever owned....just because I can't afford a $40,000 motorbike has nothing to do with it....

I moved on from the SV-

To an Aprilia RSV Mille-
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g213/doubleup16/RSV%20Mille/DSCF1710.jpg
I loved the v-twin power of the SV and I knew that was what I wanted to stick with. The Mille handles like no other and the 120hp kicks in smooth and predictable. To all who are thinking about an RC51, consider the RSV which is a great bike and can be had for a fair deal used. Or even the RSVR which has carbon fiber bits and ohlins forks, rear shock and steering stabilizer.

Tru dat! Thanks for reminding me. I've read a lot about them and I heard about the lack of ergos and the slow turn in. I will definitely try it before I buy it.
But the SV1000 is still a definitely possibility.

Actually, I am liking the RSV/RSVR too. Motorcycle News UK loves them and I found a kinda rough one for cheap on CL.

So I ended up getting a 2001 RSV1000R and I love this thing. Ungodly fast, stooopid brakes and even though it's heavy, it turns in like a scooter.
Still not going to sell the SV.

I'd like to get either a Ducati 848 or 749

A few weeks ago (right before I fell off) I rode my friends 749. It seems kinda stretched out. I didn't get to really ride it as we were just cruising down Telegraph Canyon Rd (in the suburb part of Chula Vista) but it was different than my Aprilia. The weight felt the same but it wasn't as flickable.
I've heard good things about the 848, but it's still very much of a Ducati Supersport bike. Meaning that it's designed to carve and that means aggressive ergos and kinda rough riding. I've heard the seat gets hot with the under seat exhaust.
I especially like how light the bike is.
