I wouldn't bother with that wiring kit. Most of that is unnecessary (in a normal trackday experience). The wiring isn't anything special- Home Depot all the way!

Watching and learning is cool....however riding is better of course. If you can you should sign up! Bring your bike and any necessary supplies (tools, food, gas etc etc..) and do some laps around the track at your own pace. And to answer your question...I don't know when I'm headed up there...probably end up staying there on Sunday night not too sure yet.

I'm not quite sure yet, something on the front end is making a funny grinding sound. I'm going over to a friends house later this weekend to try and sort it all out. I have a funny feeling that it's something really simple and easy to fix but I just don't know what it is yet.

Gates usually open around 7, tech starts at 8, riders meeting at 8.30, sessions start at 9. Thats the ideal schedule...

Dominious was tearing it up out there, im surprised you didnt get bumped up to the sport group! looking really good out there!

Shandra! thanks for the mechanical help and great seeing you again, it had been waayy too long. you looked great on that SV in the race group! :love:

It was a relatively short trackday for me, i was feeling good in the morning, but started to not be able to focus, and after a near wipeout on turn 3 (jeremy saw it! ) i decided to take a quick nape.. well that nap lasted the rest of the sessions and called it a day, crash free. :D

THanks to the trackday dude who helped me out. I followed him for awhile, he also let me know my lines are far too jerky, hopefully next time, i can get more tracktime with an instructor, for now im goign to work on some things on the bike, just to increase my own confidence.. i was draging my toe on turns 3-6.. and i was tip toeing, i felt like i wanted to just put my foot in the air! :P

Good to hear you had fun dude. If you're having trouble with your lines not being all that smooth, one thing to try to do is to focus on what you're doing with your lower body and where you're focusing through the turns. You need to focus not right ahead of you.. where you're going, but where you need to go. If you're focusing on where you're going, that's where the bike is going to go

As for dragging toe, if you're doing that a lot then that's a bad thing in this case. I would work on first making sure you're leaning with the bike, which apparently was problematic before. After that, eventually start to work on moving your weight off the bike and into the corner. This doesn't necessarily mean full knee down and all that, but at least start thinking and working on shifting your weight into the corners.

The goal is in general to work with the bike.... the whole idea of not fighting against what it's going to do and what gravity is going to do.

Of course, take my suggestions with a grain of salt. I'm still learning, but, that's some of the stuff that I've learned to use to help myself. If anyone has any different suggestions or anything, add them in :). Remember, don't fight the bike!

It's important to maintain the redness of the "red helmet of fury" because as everybody knows....red makes you go faster. In addition to that, the following also makes you go faster:

1. Stickers
2. Chrome
3. Tire Flys
4. Iridium Windscreens
5. Removing your passenger pegs to reduce air drag

What a trackday!

I'm not going to lie, going into this trackday I was pretty intimidated; Big Willow is fast and Nick is not. I trucked out the night before with Dominus and his friend Eric from Santa Barbara and it took us a suprisingly short amount of time to reach the middle of nowhere (Willow Springs).

Arriving at the gate the next morning our possee was greeted by a long ass line of people, mainly comprised of Ducati owners (to the shagrin of eric), and a not so friendly gate keeper who wanted $10 from each of us (too bad we only had $20:squid: ).

All the SCSV crew finally assembled and we had one hell of a pit area with all kinds of nonsense going on: me and evil flirting, Dominus shooting up ego booster like a junkie, and all kinds of bikes making crazy weird noises (Jerm and Waljara).

After a lengthy riders meeting and an even longer orientation/newb meeting we were finally ready to hit up the track! I've gotta give MAD CRAZY SUPER BIG PROPS to JesseJames for giving me a detailed description of the track beforehand; the knowledge he bestowed on me gave me lots of confidence in knowing where I was going before I actually knew where I was going :worthy: ...

Most of the day was comprised of me and Dominus dicing it up in C group. To be honest, we had no business being in that group. By the second or third session we were picking up the pace and passing some of the newb riders at pretty insane speeds; while some of the R1's, 999r's, and other high powered bikes were timidly going into turn 8/9 at 80 mph, we were going in hot and around the outside of them at 120+.

Though I had a GREAT time at this track I made 2 mistakes that could've cost me dearly. During one of the mid-afternoon sessions I passed 4 riders in the short straight between 2 and 3 and went into 3 WAY too hot/on the brakes/on the left side of the track and knew I'd lowside if I tried to make it. Instead of crashing (no fun) I decided to go dirt biking (fun)! During my dirt biking adventure I almost made a pitstop at the portypotty Rossi style but I decided I shouldn't bite his style... The second scare of the day happened during the second to last session: experimenting with braking points on the front straight, I went in VERY hot into turn 1 which led me to break in a new set of toe sliders and scrape the crap out of my left rearset. I'm super glad I pulled off that turn, woulda sucked to crash going that fast :sad:...<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/o4trix/attachment.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">
(Me going dirtbiking and thinking about hitting up the porto potty).

Overall I'm SUPER pleased with this trackday. I learned SO much about my bike and got a better feel for body positioning (getting my upper body off the bike more). I'm also super happy that I got to go with such a cool and down to earth group of people. It was rad chilling with: Dominus, Eric, Daniel, Waljara, Warren, Jerm, J_C, Shandra, Evil, and everybody else...

Thanx mang...your advice TOTALLY helped me out on the track! J_C was the one who crashed; turn 4b, he's fine physically and his bike isn't in that bad of shape at all...

Most of the day was comprised of me and Dominus dicing it up in C group. To be honest, we had no business being in that group. By the second or third session we were picking up the pace and passing some of the newb riders at pretty insane speeds; while some of the R1's, 999r's, and other high powered bikes were timidly going into turn 8/9 at 80 mph, we were going in hot and around the outside of them at 120+.


I told you guys would you would be fast in the not so fast group, No wonder the Red Helmet looks all shiny this week.

Yeah im fine. I'm still a little sore, but no big deal. Bike faired pretty darn well. Just need a new puck for my slider, bar end, rear set, turn signal, and brake lever. The pipe's crunched, and I have some rash on the fairing. :o

Brian, I'm not excited about the crash... I think I just realize how fortunate I am that I'm not hurt, and the bike can be repaired with minor things :)
