Girls Take over a Track Day!! 12/11 SOW

At the last ladies get together, I enthusiastically encouraged the girls to do a track day for several reasons.
1. It's a safer environment for honing in your riding skills (no gravel to worry about or things jumping out in front of you, ambulance standing by *in case*).
2. There are wonderful instructors there to give you pointers and lead you around the track to get you familiarize. You can follow their lines and mimic their body positioning.
3. And it's just a lot of fun!!

So, with that, I proposed that all the girls get together and take over a track day. The only problem with that is that some of the girls (CyCy gals: Erin, Honey, and B and SCSVRers Amanda and Juice) do not have all their gear (or bikes!). I was thinking that Dec. 11th @ streets would be perfect but with being close to the holidays, it might be harder to get funds to purchase all the necessary stuff. So, I've put up some choices on which track day the girls should take over. Post up and Vote. I'm willing to help you out if you need stuff. Just let me know, and I'll do everything in my power to get you on the track!

just fyi, the 10-11 weekend at Streets is also the same weekend as the show.. We'll not only be at the Streets but at the show.. Best thing to do is pick a day to ride, and a day to go to the show..

Show Saturday, and Ride Sunday is what I'd recommend.. but who knows ;)

exactly that. disconnect brakelights, headlights, and turn signals. tape them up along with your mirrors. I remove my turn signals, headlight, and mirrors since it takes only a couple of minutes. replace coolant with a track-friendly substance like water wetter or kool-aid...

the thing is, temps might dip below freezing overnight so if you're staying in rosamond you probably don't want a water wetter/water mix in your engine because it will freeze, expand, and crack your engine block!

I have water wetter in my bike right now, so i guess i have to drain it, put antifreeze in it, then put water wetter in it at the track in the AM.

does that sound about right, winter trackday veterans?

Just drain your radiator and leave it empty overnight, then fill up with water wetter in the AM.

Really it's not that hard... and I had fun prepping my (and Lin's LOL) bike for that last track day. Gives you a chance to learn more about your bike too. You don't have to play "nubile nymph" for Setter (I mean you could if you wanted but why do that to yourself), and the as far as diconnecting the wiring for your lights... just pull the fuses. Then hardest part was the radiator thing and even that wasn't too difficult. The only things I removed from the green machine were the mirrors and the fuses for the lights. Does anyone wanna try to put together a maintenance 101 "prep your bike for track day" get together? We've got 2 months.

OH HELL... Setter just offered his place for this DUH!!! OK... anyone wanna play nymphette? Setter are you "centrally located"?

As is the goal for most people that are out there. Hoo has never claimed to want to be fast, or to be fast. She is by no means the slowest girl, nor is she the balls out "ride it like its stolen, its not fun unless i drag knee" rider.

Hoo is a great rider, and might i add looks hella hot in black leather ;) and has more track experience than you and I combined, I think we both can learn a thing or two from Hoo.

This wasn't directed at Hoolie... I love watching her ride and I've even picked up some pointers from her (she doesn't know I watched her most of the time she was on the track).

Every time another rider passed me I would pick up on their lines to see if they worked for me... cuz I'm still trying to figute all this out. That's why I said ride well... when I wasn't surrounded by other riders I was "observing" the riders that passed me... when they shifted and when they would brake, and it helped. That last session it was me and only 2 other riders and I felt like it was finally coming together... I need more track time!!!

I guess I took exception as my name has been prominantly noted a couple of times as a comparison point when talking about slower/less experienced riders. I've never claimed to be a fast or exceptional rider. I suppose some folks took that to mean I was OK with being the SCSVR resident poster child for the low end of the riding-skills spectrum. I forgot to check the sport box when I signed up so I'm in street. Don't really mind riding in Street since it keeps me from pushing sometimes. But since I've been to Streets SO many times(car and bike), I think I'll be okay in Sport.

Oh, not necessarily. If there is something I see with a person's technique, body position, etc., I can help them improve that part of their riding. But for people like you who have great technique and do everything fine, you just need to pull your skirt down from out of your eyes.

Daniel isn't going but my roommate and I are both going and so is Greg...so with you that puts the total to 4 bikes...I at the most can probably carry 3 safely....we'll figure something out.
