i heard on this forum a little while ago that some textile materials have contained a fair amount of plastic and have been known to melt in a slide...does anyone have an article or know what type of material is prone to it, and what type of textile material i should lean towards? thanks!
I have seen textiles "melt" however in all cases I would have considered the results good. The textile was trashed but the rider was saved.

this (http://www.motoport.com/cycleports_Kevlar.htm) may shed some light on the subject.
You can also go to this (http://www.motoport.com/) website and click "save your hide" in the upper right hand corner for more info.
In my personal experience dainese textiles do not melt.

Ask slowmike....he slid for quite a while with his textile gear on the freeway in his wreck a few months back. I'd say they worked wonderfully. Everything was Joe Rocket gear I believe.

you know, joe rocket gets a bad rap, but i really like their stuff.
i have a reactor-S jacket that i wear for cold weather (because my A* jacket is perfed). its half text and it has leather in the important areas, like the arms and shoulders.
it also has back armor. something my A* jacket doesnt have. i assume this is because my A* jacket is part of a two piece race set, i guess they assume that you are going to have a separate back protector.
but all things considered, i dont have a single bad thing to say about my joe rocket jacket.
