Marina Suzuki got the insurance check for my crashed SV1000S over a month ago, it's all bodywork and cosmetic damage, I am still waiting on a front wheel and a new gasket (and a bar end weight, but I can ride with a scratched one of those for the moment).
I take back everything nice I've said about them, Andrew's a nice guy, but the owner's a cretin and it's looking like it'll be another week and a half (the other side of thanksgiving) before I get my f*cking machine back.
I am royally pissed off right now, and the day was going so well until just after lunch.

Thanks man, I know there's nothing anyone can do, I'm just going to show up and bitch at them tomorrow and find out what the hell is going on.
Maybe I can source the parts locally so they can get it back together and take the extra cost off my deductible.
I don't own a car, being without my bike is crippling (speaking of which, I broke my leg the same time I broke the bike, I thought I'd have the bike back in one piece long before I was capable of riding it).

I would never take a wrecked bike to a dealer #1, They will fix it at any cost and wait time doesnt matter to them.
When I got hit head on by another bike on my than 94
RF900R my Independent mechanic asked me point blank" Do you want it back yes or no"
I said no and the bike was totaled, it needed a pipe and a rear sub frame and would have cost about $900.00 total to fix plus labor. He bought it from Allstate for $1100.00 and sold it for $4000.00
I saw Gordons bike and it was waaaaay worse than mine was and it was probably close to being a loss.

I think it looked a lot worse than it was, it was all bodywork damage with the exception of the front wheel (the shop owner gave me some guff about the big gouge being behind the fender when he did the estimate so he missed it), they checked the alignment and the forks are still straight, the parts list ran to $3500 plus a day's labour plus tax, so about $4500 in total, I know a new SV costs the dealer something like $7200.
Obviously they're going to try to put as much as possible onto the estimate, The problem is that they were waiting until all the parts were in before trying to rebuild it, consequently they're running into lots of "oh, we didn't realise it didn't come with that bolt/gasket/washer/grommit" crap which is adding a lot of waiting time onto the rebuild, there's really no excuse for that, they're the dealer, they should already know what they need.

That's a reason why I don't deal with Dealers with the exception of Suzuki of Van Nuys. Also most shops have those extra bits in stock or will at least ask you if you don't mind using the old ones. I feel for ya mang!
distrbing the peace doesn't look great just from a glance. Don't really like the honda/kawi place near it either, they charged me almost 200 for a BT014 rear tire and thought they were doing me a favor. Stupid nails.

His bike didn't go down that hard and most of the damage is cosmetic. I'm guessing the front wheel hit the armco barrier if it needs replacing.

The wheel didn't hit the barrier, but it managed to get a great load of gravel rash from the road, quite how the forks survived without any damage I have yet to fathom :)
I mean seriously, how does the front wheel get a huge gouge in it from the tarmac but the fork lowers themselves survive unscathed ? :)

Hmm, I'll take a good look when I go over to pick up the bike (believe me, I'll be checking everything), the insurance guy said they were straight as did the shop, *shrug*.

I agree, Andrew is a nice guy and I'm sure he works hard, but that doesn't discount sloppy work that may or may not have been done by him. Nice doesn't cut it. Nice will get you invited to a party.
Maybe get you a blowjob if you're lucky....
The owners of Marina Suzuki are dishonest people who will sell you leathers that are way too big for you, wasting your hard-earned $$$, if you are too inexperienced to know any better. They will lie right to your face that the insurance policy you are buying from them has more coverage than it actually does.
But they sure are nice. Invite them to a party. Let them blow you.

I just got a phone call that went something like this;
Me: "Hello?"
Shopmonkey: "Hi yes, we've almost got your bike back together, but it turns out that the headlight wiring harness is shot and we missed the front fender off the estimate"
Me: So is it, or is it not going to be ready?
Shopmonkey: Well can talk to the insurance guy, you can ride with the old fender, but we'll need to order the wiring harness
Me: Can you not just steal one off one of your shop bikes?
Shopmonkey: Oh yes, good idea, we'll do that
Me: Ok, and you've put the new frame sliders on?
Shopmonkey: What new frame sliders?
Me: The ones I dropped off last weekend
Shopmonkey: What did they look like?
Me: Unsurprisingly they looked like frame sliders..
Shopmonkey: Were they in a box?
Me: Yes, along with my license plate
Shopmonkey: What did that look like?
Me: 6" on a side, foot long, brown, has my name on it.
Shopmonkey: Uh, are you sure?
Me: Quite
Shopmonkey: I don't see it, we'll find it
Me: What about the tires I shipped over?
Shopmonkey: What tires?
... and so on and so forth.
The tires I had shipped to them got lost and nearly got sold until the shop manager rescued them from general inventory and now they're still hunting high and low for my frame sliders and license plate, I'm fully expecting them to install them the wrong way around and the license plate upside down, assuming they find the box...
.. and I thought I was disorganised.
In his defence, Andrew has apparently only worked 2 days out of the last 25, this was not him on the phone.

Finally got it back, can't see anything wrong with the forks, and it rides straight, no weirdness at all.
Running temp is fine, for some reason the damaged Yoshi muffler was never ordered so I got a refund for that and will replace it myself.
Next few days will be spent inspecting it, making sure it's all where it should be and figuring out how much these muppets owe me.

Yeah, where has Andrew been? I've been into the shop twice this past month (with only mild success) and he wasn't there either time. Had to talk to that Barry dude. He gives me the creeps.

He's been ill the past week supposedly, I don't think he and Barry get on ....
... and I'm less than impressed with Barry, he really doesn't seem to be on the ball, Andrew at least knew what state the bike was in and exactly what was happening with it.

Kyoseki, I'm really sorry to hear about your misfortune with Retarda Suzuki. They suck ass and it's a miracle they are still in business.
Double check all their work so nothing falls off your bike while you are leaned over in a corner in the mountains. Originally posted by Aeteocles

I'll be giving the bike a good looking over tomorrow, I'm not entirely sure the rear wheel is straight, but I think I'm imagining things :) I can't imagine how that could possibly be twisted.
