Does anyone have opinions in using the "red" or "gold" cap for their SV?
Thanks, Rocket 6R

i use mobile 1 15w50 synth in my sv.
shifting is noticibly crappier than with rotella 5w30.
otherwise, it does its job.

paul..how many miles do you have on your SV? i heard you shouldnt go full syn. till you get about 9,000 miles...i have heard this from a number of people so there may be some validity to it...i went motul syn. blend at 9k miles...just did my 18k mile oil change and im happy with the results so far...

I've got 2800 miles on the bike. The problem with the mileage issue is that there are so many opinions on this subject I do not know what or who to believe. I found this site however.

The website I posted says it's ok to use synthetic after 1500 miles.

almost every mechanic i've talked to said not to use syn because it would cause slippage. WTF! So I use a syn blend and seems to be okay.
Many people seem to be using the Rotella T Synthetic with no slippage. It is not actually a true synthetic but rates as a synthetic.
A motorcycle specific synthetic should not cause slippage - for that matter an automobile oil that is not rated 'energy conserving' should also not cause slippage.

There are no differences in car oil vs. bike oil. They all run the same.......
The reason people complain of slipping is because our bikes use a wet clutch... syn. + wet clutch = slipping
