Someone a while back told me they were making a kit to use a steering damper on 02 GSXR forks on a 2000 SV. Does anyone know if that was made? I would like to get a kit. Right now my set up is not able to take a damper.
They don't make that kit anymore, but you might still be able to get the same parts that were used. It's basically the normal GSXR damper and base, with the damper using a #0 arm, along with the sv post mount.
If you decide to piece it together, you have to order the damper for the SV and mate it with the GSXR base because their GSXR kits use a pinless design now. It sounds complicated but it isn't if you go and look at the pictures on their page.
Another option is to make your own mount to use the normal plunge style damper on the GSXR setup. I'm not handy enough so I'm waiting for a guy on svrider to start making them.
btw, I assumed you were talking about the gprs

Nope. I was talking to a guy on this site a few months ago who said he was in the process of making a kit that would mount a stock or aftermarket damper on the lower triple for those of us with Standard SV's and that means no clip ons and not room for GPR or Scotts dampers. He said he was close but never got back to me.
I am also waiting for that mount, it sounds like he sent his design to the machine shop a week ago. I was thinking of just bending a piece of steel to mount to the steering head and weld a triangular piece to strengthen the L-Bracket. I have seen people make this bracket out of license plate brackets (that doesn't seem strong enough). I will post if the machined al mount becomes available.

Ok. Sounds like I am not the only one waiting.

I bought one of those mounts....and its still sitting in my garage. Not enough room for the mount AND my headlight to be on at the same time. The SV will soon be converted into a track only shin-dig and then i will mount it up and give any feedback if needed. Looks like a good quality piece though...worth the money.

that`s no good, i want to keep that headlight and my handlebars a damper like the scott would be the last resort because i would have to switch to clip ons, looks like hyper pro makes one for the naked but no pics how that looks or works,
if somebody here runs a damper on gsxr front end can he/she post a pic
thank you

do you have more info about it ? looks like that one bracket is secured at the frame where that clamp sits and the other on the other side on the fork leg, do maybe have a pic or 2 from a different angle ?
thank you
