Crush washers are designed for a single use.

roughly 50 oil changes and I have never replaced mine... never had a leak either. I'd have a hard time replacing it even if I wanted to, it has been crushed so many times it wont come off the bolt anymore. :|

Crush washers are soft metal, it will just squish over and over again... no trouble.

Maybe you just over-lubed your chain ( like I did ). :D

Now that all the excess has been slung off (on the chain guard, spring, etc) I don't have any oil spots on the garage floor any more either.

1 oil change, no leaks, I don't think you really *have* to change them, just something else they will charge you $5 for if you have the dealer do your oil change.

If it's copper you can heat it with a torch and quench it in water to re-use it but whatever, unless you see leaking coming from the bolt, it's fine. I've replaced one once, and the only reason was it started coming apart. I've never had one leak.

hehe, well....

130,000 miles, roughly 50 oil changes(actually more since I change for EVERY track day regardless) and neve rhad an issue with it, never used a torque wrench on it, never leaked no issues. Just don't tighten it like it is an engine mount and you will be fine. A good way to prevent over-tightening it is to use a small box wrench when putting the plug back in. Not enough leverage to get it tight enough that it would strip.

Well, I did say that they are "designed" for single use.

It doesn't mean that they will not work after several uses.

Kinda like a wrench...... you can also use them to hammer a nail, open a bottle cap, as a cheater bar and all, but they were meant to be used on nuts and/or bolts.:D

mileage thread....

And most of those miles were in the first 2-2.5 years. Commuting 60 miles each way, every day, rain or shine will rack up the miles pretty quick.
