I have a question for you all. I did a search on this topic and looked around for about 15 minutes and gave up. I will apologize ahead of time since I'm sure this topic has already been brought up before.
Does the "Smart TRE" solve the idle problems from rising? I currently have a non-Smart TRE and when the clutch is in the bike idles at about 1250 rpm's. When the clutch is out the bike then idles, when in neutral, to about 1500 rpm's. It appears that the Smart TRE, from what I have read, takes care of the cold start issues. I was looking at the Smart TRE made by Checkered Flag that sells for $59.99. I will purchase it if it can take care of my idle issue.

mine idles at 1100 and goes to 1300 at most..the cold start issue is fixed by putting a swtich on it..like the ones I make now. I beelive all TRE mods will increase your idle speed a bit ...
I just read about the smart TRE ..somehow they have supposebly put a computer chip in there...to control the idle...it may do the trick..
Also I took my TRE out the other day and noticed that when I pulled in the clutch, the idle went up a bit as well..bascially you are remvoing drag on the wheel when you pull in your clutch so it lightens the load..at least that 's what it seems like..

racinteach, not to change the subject, but my idle (with or without the TRE) is a little erratic. Meaning, I set up my idle for 1250, but it seems to surge high and low when the engine is warm or not. It will surge about 200 rpm's at idle. Meaning my low point is 1150 and my high point is 1350. I checked this by hooking up my PCIIIUSB to my laptop and watching the idle. The TPS on the PC is set at 1150 rpm, which means I get spike up to 4% on the throttle position on the PC. THE BIKE ALSO SURGES AT THE LOWER GEARS WHILE CRUSING. The bike will stop surging while cruising at higher speeds in 5th or 6th gear. I think the surging goes away at the higher gears due to a heaver load.
Anyway, I have checked the TPS on the bike (dealer mode) and it is spot on. I checked the TB sync at MMI and that is spot on, too. I had also mapped my bike, which was overseen by my instructor, and the bike runs in the high 13:1 fuel air ratio. I've checked the TB vacuum lines and they are good to go. DO YOU KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON WITH MY IDLE OR IS THIS JUST NORMAL? By the way, I did show my current instructor, we change instructors every 3-6 weeks, and he did not seem to think it was a real problem, but I don't think he gave a shit either.

idle fluctuations tend to be a ltttle normal on these bikes...the load on them seems to be what affects this..I would lower the idle a bit...also the PCIII maybe the issue as where it is constantly adjusting the system to work at its best according to the map...nothing wrong with the map but you really should not be to worried as long as it does not do it during your riding..
