"Motorcycle Madness" UPN news segment 4/26/02

A special investigation report on insane riders. They aren't just targetting stunters but also canyon riders, calling them insane. Kinda interesting to watch the news trash report. Its was on channel 13 UPN April 26 at 10pm. Most of the footage was up in Angeles Crest.

Man, doesn't this stuff just make you nuts?

That was so terrible, I don't even know where to start.

It didn't even make sense. They were interviewing some harley drag bike guy and then somehow trying to relate that to sport bikers in the canyons. Then they were showing and interviewing street drag racers, but again inexplicably attributed them to riding in the canyons too. And all the while they kept making vague threats about how these evil canyon riders were threating the safety of "you and me".

If you want to tell a story about motorcycling, then tell one. Find a story, gather some information and some opinions, and present them in a coherent fashion. But it's as if they just picked the topic of motorcycles out of a hat, rounded up some random riders and bike footage, and then edited it all into a half-assed music video. The editorial tone of the reporter was negative in condemning these "insane" bikers, but the style of the piece seemed intended to glamourize the racers and stunters, so what was the point?

If you see it on TV it has to be the truth.

There is some chopped together footage that was also on the Fox report 'Motorcycle Mecca' along with some out takes from the footage 'Maveric' sold Fox.

I think the news crews just come up w/these bs stories as fluff because they can't find anything else. probably some jack-off reporter that gets stuck on an assignment that is totally lame, and they have to spice it up somehow.

damn, this is the second vid. ive seen from UPN bashing bikers, and claiming that motorcycles are dangerous to anyone who even looks at them. When it comes to the dangers of SUV's though, all they report is how hazardous it is to go cruising with the wrong type of rims.
