I don't have any help to figure out propper sag settings for my bike, so I was wondering if anyone is around 185lbs (without gear) and has their suspension set to 30-35mm of sag. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I weigh about 185 without gear. Is anyone about the same weight that has set their suspension already? If so, how many notches are exposed for the front preload? Did you change the rear preload from factory settings?
I want to set my suspension to about 30-35 mm of spring sag, but don't have anyone around to help me.

everyone has different setting for a given weight ... you just have to adjust it and ride to get it close to what your comfortable with.
Hint ... stiffer make the bike handle better. So avoid trying to smooth out the ride if you looking for better performance. One end of the range is soft and smoother (like a cadillac) on the other end of the spectrum there's stiff and better performing (like a Porsche). What do you want your bike to ride like ...
smooth like a Cadillac, perform like a Porsche or something in between like a Honda Accord.
I run my setting way stiff. But I'm use to riding a track bike. I also unload the weight off my seat for bumps.

If you go to the SV1000 website they have a forum - tips and tuning ....several pages on settings -
hope the link works:

What he said was . . . . well, I can't actually explain it any better, I can just type with clearer grammar. :)

so the stock spring changes size as it progresses down the fork? and other ones don't, but are better?
stock spring is pregressive. on top of that it changes diameter throughout the length. in other words, take it out, deposit with sanitation department, and buy straight rate springs.

Ok, are there any rocket scientists in the San diego/Temecula/real so Cal area who can help me sort out my stock 2003 SV1000S (with LSL superbike bars) suspension for very spirited riding up Mt. Palomar and non-spine crushing commute riding for a cheap price (I'm now broke officially)?! Sag and just help in dialing in the the adjusters, etc.
I can't afford nice suspension stuff like I used to so I have to work with the stock crap for now. It only has 3,000 miles on it
Please (READ THIS PART) e-mail me with your suggestions to:

Thanks from an SV brother!

Thanks Racinteach. I'd still prefer the two hot girls in miniskirts as one of MY modifications but I don't have enough money...
