I cant find a post for this so heres mine. I was washing my bike and heard a dripping noise. Water was dripping into my tank from the fuel cap. I hadnt noticed this until the bike was running. After this occured the bike would not rev properly. Other than draining the tank and putting new fuel in will there be any other things that i should do. Thx

pzzamakr80,
I'd swing by the auto parts store and pick up some anti-ice fuel additive. That will absorb the water and send it on through the system. Since Albuquerque temps get below freezing it should be available. Pure alcohol will do the same thing.
I love Albuquerque. Is La Placita still there in Old Town?
Luck,
J~

I agree with Jethro I'd pick up isoheat just to make sure the little bit of water in the tank dosn't create rust and would try to burn off the tank of gas as soon as i could, just to make sure.
I would empty tank and carbs.
water is heavier than fuel and will stay on bottom.

Damn, even if you get the problem handled now, you oughta look into why your fuel filler cap is leaking water into the tank. It's pretty easy to take apart, perhaps you should remove it and re-install with some black silicone sticky gunk like goop or whatever to keep that thing watertight. I would imagine a leaky filler cap would leak fumes out as well, wouldn't it?

Yeah. The sealant ring is dried out and doesnt seal. I found this out when I filled my tank, propped it up, and had gas pouring out the top. Plus, five years of opening and closing and it wont close tight. So i'm getting a screw on cap, one of the vortex ones. Or a marchesini. I havent decided.

be careful what you use to seal the cap. gas will dissolve things like silicone and others.
