What does a 1st gen. motor weigh? Anyone know off hand.

135 lbs sounds like a lot of weight. They always show the Hardley builders carring the motor over to the frame and gently putting it in ( I mean installing it in the frame), but if the motor weighed a few hundred pounds I doubt they could carry it, so my question is, does the Hardley motor only weigh similar to the SV, or are all the Hardley guys on steriods? Anyone? Enquiring minds need to know. Thanks.

That sounds about right to me. Thanks Z.

I think the motors you see them carrying don't have alot of components installed yet, but still weigh a bit. I guess thats why alot of bike builders are big ole grease balls.

135lb aint that heavy, may be its just you are weak

harley is just crank and 2 cylinders,still heavy.

Tranny is a seperate unit.

Plus those guys are all pretty huge.

I had S&S motor I was working on and it seamed lighter than sv.
it was from Indian and crank/top end only.I had no problem lifting it and moving around.

135lb is heavier than i thought as well. never having put one on a scale, my guess would have been ~90ish, but, since God has spoken (TWF), i trust his word.

i've done 4 swaps in the last 3months. since im a 140lb dude, it is a bit tricky for me to move these things around the garage. if i tried to lift the V-twin w/ my forarms (Harley style), i would prolly break myself.

I shipped few motors around,with box it would come around 150#.
I scaled just motor at 135.
