Does anyone know if a 2nd gen sv650s top triple clamp will work with the naked lower tree.

I'm attempting to swap out my naked top clamp for an S version (to install clipons) but found that it doesn't fit. It seems that the steering stem and the folk tubes have a different spacing. Folks are more forward in the S version? Or that my S top clamp is bent?

Thanks in advance.

top s clamp works no problem. something is out of alignment. is the front end sitting on the ground while you are trying this? that will cause the tops of the tubes to move closer to the stem when you remove the old clamp.

Burst, yes the bike's front wheel is on the ground. What you said makes sense because of the pressure. I will have to see if I can find a front stand.

However if I refit it with the naked top clamp it slides right in, that what makes me think there is something wrong with the S clamp.

Has anyone done this before?

that is correct for first generation.
I believe second generation has different offset between naked and S,I may be wrong, never tried swaping upper triple.

Dude, you and me both. :P

Seriously, I've been thinking of getting an S top clamp for my naked cuz I've got clipons now and those ugly scraped up holes where they bar mounts used to be are just unsightly...

Dan- I guarantee that there is not one thing wrong with that upper triple!

I have a curvy 1st Generation SV naked.

On re-installing my top yoke after polishing it also did not line up at first, then I jacked up the front and popped in nicely.

Its great to hear that the 1st Generation Sv650S top fits on the naked's. I'll try that with my brother's spare top.

illustr8dman, like I said I don't know what the problem is. The existing top clamp would fit while the bike is still on the ground but the S ver. doesn't. My bike is an 04 naked while I believe the S clamp is 03.

Does anyone know if there is any changes between the 03 and 04? Thanks in advance.

Dante, do you have clipons with the naked top clamp? I thought that setup wouldn't work because of the locations of the bolts on the clamp.

It's weird. I matched the two clamps last night and the distance between the forks and stem on the S clamp seems to be about 1/8 inch further. Anyone? Any idea?

There are some small changes on the 03 to 04.

Are you working on this to install the clip ons? or just for the look?

The naked triple camp looks better on the bike as it has the shape of the intrument pannel.

I am just cutting the top part of the head light braket and lowering it just enough to fit the clip ons on the forks.

Then I am going to fabricate a beaket to fit on the naked handelbars bolt holes for my Valentine Radar and my Ipod Nano.

You can also just cover up the holes with...

Luis.

Luis, I'm changing the clamp to be able to use stock clipons. Apparently the naked clamp bolts hitting the tops of the clipons so they cannot be raised to fit snugly to the clamp. Do you have the same problem? Very interested in how you set it up, can you upload some pix. Thanks.

I am not using SV clip-ons, I have Convertibars clip-ons. They fit right underneath the top clamp no problem.

Here's a pic with the stock bar still installed for comparison:

You can see the clamps pretty well here I think:

Nevermind that yellow tank. :P

I guess I would have to sell this new pair of clip ons I just bought.

Luis.

Those Tomaselli clip=ons illustrated above seem to clear the top yoke pretty well and seem to work well even on 1st gen sv. Can you give me the amount of clearance available Lui05SV650?

The only thing I see is that they may take your hands a bit too way forward but since they are pretty high for clip-ons you won't be that uncomfy. How did you find the riding position?
