I am installing the factory lower fairings on my sv and I have 2 issues...the top bolt holes don't want to line up with the hole in the fairing, I can make it fit but I have to really push over on the fairing to make the screw thread in. I am concerned that it will make the fairing easier for damage or stress crack by itself. 2nd issue, I have a leo vince full exhaust, it sits closer to the frame and the right side lower fairing mount cannot be mounted properly, also the fairing is hitting the exhaust if I put it next to it. HELP

Are you talkin about the bolts that go into the radiator? If so, did you remember the aluminum bushing spacer thingies? If u can, post some pix of the problem.

Just did mine a couple of months ago. I agree with lowspdwobble post some pics so we can get a better idea of what youre going through.

More than likely you'll just need to adjust the main fairing stays where the frame sliders attach (optionally). Especially the one on the right side of the bike, as you tighten the bolt that holds the bracket in place, it begins to rotate the bracket clockwise. This effectively lowers the height at which you're mounting the fairing.

So go through and check your bracket alignment. Best bet is to loosen your fasteners and do a trial fitment until you get it right.

Good luck

I'm glad I read stuff like this before I get my lower fairings so I know what to expect if I run into issues

I will try and get some pics, I did put the k5 only bracked on the radiator fits fine there, I can make the frame slider braket fit into the large hole fine, just the very top ones don't want to line up well, that's one thing..But, what do I do where the aftermarket exhaust is on the right side where the bolt is suppose to go and also the fairing actually touching the exhaust?

get some pics up first, but i'd say fire up the ol' dremel. Make it work.

Regarding the fairing bolts:
I had the EXACT same problem with my 05. The spacer bolts simply weren't long enough. I ended up spacing it out with a bunch of metal washers. The fairing seemed to be tugging on the radiator mounts quite a bit, but it seemed ok.

However, after a few months the radiator started to develop a leak. I'm not sure if this was due to the fairing pulling on the radiator or a malfunctioning radiator cap but it seemed like it was the fairing that caused it (though I've never heard anyone else ever have this problem). I pulled the entire fairing off and brought the bike in to get a warranty repair.

When I got the bike back, I decided to create my own fairing brace out of 1" flat metal bent on the ends with drilled holes, so that the fairing wouldn't have to touch the radiator whatsoever.

The holes in the brace is where the fairing attaches.

Supposedly the newer fairing packages are supposed to include the longer bolt spacers, but not sure.

I bought my lowers a month or so ago and had no trouble installing them (besides freaking out when the very rear bottom bolt kept spinning and I couldn't find the head of the bolt for awhile)

 I did the exact same thing, thought I had busted the bolt and thought I was going to have a heart attack. Even went to HomeDepot to look at tap and die sets to figure out how to tap a new hole through the engine mount hole.

Then I saw the nut on the other side of the bike...

I'm a total :idiot: sometimes.
