If I had to have 4 wheels, that's the style I would prefer...looks pretty cool,...plenty of room inside, it's difficult, no impossible to buy yank tank style utes in Australia. She's a beauty mate.

I was astonished when I went to Australia and everyone was driving around in "Ute" things that looked like a cross between an El Camino and a Ford Taurus.

I was more astonished when I saw one that was riced out, complete with body kit and erector set spoiler.

Amazing...

Hahah, Yank Tank Ute. Nice!

The gate misses closing by an inch or two, so I just used a strap to hold the gate up.

350 small block
Headers
4 spd auto (700R4 I think?)
Something more than a mild cam (I LOVE the lope...)
HUGE radiator
Front discs
Air bag rear
Rear sway bar
Boyd wheels w/fat meats

I am going to follow up with the last 2 owners to try to get the exact parts list....

The only issues are the body. It could potentially be bad as obvious rust spots were painted over. But for now, it's a solid driver's car. It smokes the tires easily, and I was wagging the rear end at first. ;) Not used to such torque and RWD. I LOVE IT!

I got an extra fiberglass hood with it, too. And the only aesthetic mods it really has are two stickers on the back window: American flag, and a Hula girl. I'm down with both.

Another cool pic I got....

Very Nice. Looks like a classy way to haul your rig. Did you try putting your bike in diagonally to get the gate closed?

No, but if I did put the bike in diagonally, the gate would have been able to close.

Oh, and I dislike red paint and I dislike white paint for automobiles....

I know this is white, but it somehow works OK for the Camino. Also, like I said, it needs bodywork for full restore, which means a repaint anyway. Dunno what I would do, but dual stripes would go on it for sure.

nice ride Jay..we can take care of the rust..grinder and bondo....put some good tie down points and take it easy on the gas pedal...350's don't get that a great millage...but who cares it's a V-8 ....oh yeah very easy to work on....right on..

Hey Robert...

Yeah, I'm not sure what would be doable as a DIY, and what would be best for a real body shop. The right lower quarter panel (if there was one), needs to be cut off and have a new one welded in place ( best for body shop). And other spots are probably workable...

I wanted to show it to you, but by time I was cruising past your place last night it was getting late. You'll catch it sometime else for sure though.

Nice truck!

You could get a 120v wire welder at Harbor Freight to patch in panels over the body rot. Pound in the edges where it would be high and cut out the rot, cut and weld in patches, bondo, sand, and prime. It's a time v/s money thing mostly if the rot isn't too close to windows, etc.

You would need a space to do the work, but you could still drive it daily, doing a section at a time.

Beautiful truck/wagon/car/thingee! That body style is classic; I'm envious!

I'd paint it a light silver color and put some blue racing stripes down the middle!

Thanks for respectin' ma ride, bitches! ;)

For a paint job, I was thinking something like this:

See the lower panel section that is flanged inward around the car? Matte Black. The rest could be Chevy Racing Orange, with dual matte black racing stripes.

That's one paint scheme sticking out in my head. Though, it will be a while before this baby gets painted, so I have plenty of time to think of more and try to have someone do Photoshop mock-ups. :)

So, there's a slight oil leak from part of the right headgasket. Nothing too major.

Also, it seems adding a choke to the carb would be a nice feature, you know, so it doesn't take me 6 or 7 tries and giving it gas for a minute or two to get the beast started.

There's two cables going to the carb, and I'm not sure why there would be two cables... any ideas?

How much did you get it for?

I was looking at one, a 68 for 10k, extremely clean..... but, found another pick up and got it for 1200 :o

$5800, then I just spend another $400 this morning to get it all registered, taxed, and titled.

Yeah, I almost bought a beater GMC pickup for $800 but just couldn't get myself to do it, ahhaha.

I need one of these too ... got hit with a speeding ticket while towing my bike. CHP was enforcing the 55mph speed limit for cars with trailers. I can't drive freaking 55.

Dude, that thing is so sweet ... Orange and black would rock, I really like the idea of the twin old-school trans-am stripes ...

Ouch. Though, really, 12 inch wheel trailers at high speeds can be pretty dangerous...
