I adapted a GSXR side stand stem to my Gen1. I did this for the following reasons:

- the GSXR stem is longer than the SV (by about 3/4") which helps to stand the bike up when equipped with extra rear ride height

- the GSXR unit is also much lower profile which of course looks smoother and is less prone to dragging or crash damage.

This setup uses the OEM SV side stand mount base, with the GSXR stem and bolt. The necessary mods are: (apologies i dont recall actual dimensions)

- increase width of GSXR stem yoke to equal that of SV stem. also c_bore outside of GSXR stem yoke so that shouldered bolt will actually bottom on it's shoulder

- remove / relocate side stand lockout switch tab on GSXR stem to mimic SV stem geometry

- bore hole in SV stand mount to accept GSXR shoulder bolt. this was an oddball size (didnt have metric drill bit or ream, so it was done as a circ. interp.)

currently bead blasted awaiting powdercoat. overall i am very pleased. this bike is running an Ohlins shock @ 13.75" eye-to-eye free length. the lean angle seems about right (didnt measure it) and the foot makes solid contact w/ the ground.
