I was planning on going to see this at Hooters or Yankee Doodles on 3rd st. Promenade. But going for one LOOOOONG day ride instead.

on a related note, me and my room mate must be the dumbest guys around. We've been living in this apt for about 4 months and never had tv cable or paid for it or anything. Well last night he plugs in a cable wire for shits and giggles and guess what. We have like 50 channels! everything from MTV to CNN to Adult Swim to...godamn!

no idea who's paying for this though.

I am also super pumped about the fights on this card! As I live in Iowa I will be getting this ppv and having people over. How strange that there will also be beer and pizza at my party!? lol

Go Randy Couture!!!!

Too even match fight, and i like both fighters. THIS IS THE FIGHT of the YEAR!
Gotta admit, deep inside i want Couture to win, because if he looses that he'll pretty much out of UFC, Iceman in other hand is younger and still have time to bounce back.

My bro and I are gonna be all over this...go Randy! Chuck is cool tho, it's hard to completely root for one or the other, but I gotta put myself in Randy's corner for old time's sake.

The other fights should be interesting too, but I really want to see the next UFC match where BJ Penn comes back...isn't he supposed to take on Matt Hughes for the title?

isn't he supposed to take on Matt Hughes for the title?

if he is, it's going to be 2x he won the title from matt ;) matt just doesn't have the ground skills penn does. he's probably the best lightweight MMA fighter today. beat out the pride lightweight champ takanori gomi and countless others.

Funny enough, Couture was an assistent wrestling coach at my old high school in Gresham. I got a chance to "wrestle" him... wasn't much of a match though, he pretty much picked me up like a little ragdoll and set me down ground like an insect.

I hope he beats the crap outta the iceman.

Next UFC is gonna be good...BJ Penn takes on Georges St. Pierre, Rich 'Ace' Franklin vs. David 'The Crow' Loiseau and in the UFC after that, Forrest Griffin vs. Tito Ortiz! WOooooot.

yawn...as always, UFC dissapoints. threw away 40 for the ppv and lost 20 to my cousin cus the old man needs a walker to get around the ring so he doesnt slip. PRIDE GP FTW!!

The main fight was an... somewhat disappointment. I wish Iceman wouldn't win by Natural slipping.
Can't wait for march one. Everyone is invited. Bring beer and we'll get pizza.
USA vs Canada. my money is on Franklin and Saint-Piere (Damm canadian just too damm good, must have had his snails when kid).

YEah it sucked seeing Couture slip a la Ken Shamrock and get blasted...oh well....bittersweet retirement too...I still have mad respect for him...he's just too old for UFC...but what he's accomplished is incredible, especially at his age.

I'm looking forward to the next one..I've got my money on Franklin and St. Pierre too....that backflipping Canadian is a bundle of energy and nobody can 'andle is riddum' LOL. Well, Matt Hughes can but that's another fight from another time. :D

I really thing penn is going to beat st pierre. Then the winner of that fight is facing matt huges. I think huges can beat st pierre but he may have a lot of trouble facing penn. (I would still take huges in that fight though)

I was really disappointed to see Randy lose this fight. Very sad to see him go. I think we will still see alot of him working with the company, but probably never fight again. Hats off to chuck though, he is an outstanding fighter!

yeah that slip was the end of randy, chuck landed a nice one and proceeded to strike him like 4 or 5 times when he was on his back, that was that. yeah it was dissapointing, but nice. I was in chuck's home town of san juis obisbo, you could hear the entire street go off when the bell rang.

Did anyone see that one guys who bled all over the place? They stopped the match to check his eye out, then let it go on, and he freaking bled more than i have ever seen. Some guy in front of me had to leave the room it was soo bad. I dont blame him, sometimes its just hard to watch that kinda brutality.

I think the bleeder was Nick Diaz..bleeding all over Joe Riggs who went on to win the decision (I thought he won pretty decisively as well).

Nick's a good striker but Joe was too much for him....I felt a tiny bit sorry for Joe after not making weight with the Hughes fight...so at least he got some satisfaction this go round.

Woot...can't wait for the next one.

i actually think diaz kicked his ass, but thats neither here nor there now.

what is important is that apparently after the match while they were headed back to locker rooms or somethin (not too sure on where) Diaz supposedly sucker punched Riggs and knocked him out.

Tue 2/7/06, 6:58AM
I dont think Diaz won that fight at all. I was happy with the decision. Diaz maybe won the 1st round because of an almost knockout but Joe still landed more the 1st round. 2nd and 3rd Joe won hands down.

It was actually at the hospital afterwords that diaz and joe got into it. They take all fighters after to get checked out and I guess diaz was running his mouth. (typical for him btw)

Also as far as Joe not making weight for the Huges fight a while back, He use to fight at like 300 when he 1st started in MMA. He always has to drop a lot of weight for every fight. (bout 30 to 40 pounds) That will usually make you very weak. He is going to get the crap knocked out of him one of these times.

(just my 2cents)

Suave:
never mind Canada, Franklin will kick ass.

St pier is better fighter than BJ and I'm ready to bet money on it.

Kyle, You are talking about Mir's fight, when that brazilian show-off (it's sad, i trained in the same school as that bozo, back in San Paulo) got a lucky shot at his left eye.

ToHuge: I agree with you.. Diaz shouldn't have won that fight.

Smoke: you're welcome (and everybody else) to my place on 4th

OMG!!! What the hell happened in that bout between Arlovski and Silvia?!! I was sure he had that in the bag and BANG! ....crazy man, just crazy.

Tito an Forrest were great! mmm... thats it.

Still can't believe that animal didn't it that poor mutant alive.

Duuuuuude....I thought Andrei Arlovski HAD Silvia...Andrei thought so too but got too cocky and got caught. Man...Andrei will be back and he'll beat Silvia next time. Good job Silvia. Watching Karo now...GO KARO. Karo trains in NoHo with Gokor..my bro actually trained with this guy.

Oh yeah, Griffin beat Tito but apparently the judges disagreed. I also was glad to see Sherk beat Diaz...Diaz seems to be a whiner...and I don't like the idea of Diaz sucker punching anyone.

damn i wish forrest woulda won, i met all the big fighters the last few days and while the guys like ortiz and the iceman were carrying around like bigshots, griffin was still down to earth...almost drove the iceman and his hoe to a stripee but i'll save that story for another time;)

Forrest was awesome man....he had gas left...Tito could not take him down easily and when he did Forrest got back up...did anyone see Tito shaking his head in frustration? Given more time and Tito's obvious injury and struggle taking Forrest down, Forrest would have eventually outgassed him and swung the decision decisively in his direction....that's my take on it. Too bad it wasn't 5 rounds. Tito also gave Forrest props at the end...Forrest is the real deal.

Man...I am still bummed about Arlovski...I wanted him to win.

ya i agree with everything you said nuke. silvia was gonna get knocked out. but whats funny is that arlovski got knocked out doing what he was afraid to do most of the match. you would see him just throw jabs and try to get out cus of silvias huge reach advantage. in the end he just said screw it cus he smelled blood and tried to go it and caught one in the chin.

tito was gonna get schooled if there was a few more rounds! i really hope they dont do a forrest bonner rematch cus thats gonna be wack. forrest will now beat the livin shit outta bonner.

well, Silvia should retire right now, because Pit-bull will punish him hard during the rematch. It took Griffing 1 round to get Tito's timing on take-downs. Tito is not well-rounded fighter, that is his only real move, and once you have it figured out.... you pretty much control tha fight. Also Griffin was throwing elbows back at Tito when he (griffin) was down, i haven't seen anybody be able to do that against Badboy. This kid can adopt and learn from opponents wile he's fighting them.. unfuckinbelievable.
well... Just to give you heads up. Everybody invited to my place for Oscar vs Mayorga May 6th.
