What is the opinion on taking a piece of 1 inch wide aluminium 90 angle bar ( ~.125 inch thick) Make a few cuts to mold it the edge of the rear hugger to hang about .25 inch above the rear tire as a nail scraper ? Just as the nail has begun to embed itself into the tire, the tire scraper knocks it off on the first revolution. I can't seem to wear out any rear tires without having to plug a nail or 2 or 3.

I think probably not a good idea...

because...what if it's a long nail....

and it's already gone through the rubber, and then the scrapper pulls it out...

and you have a tire blow out....

and you fall....

and die...

not good.

use a piece of strong spring wire...they use to make these for bicycles....to knock out thorns before they would embed in the tires..as for nail don't think it would work...because the minute you hit the nail, with the weight of the bike, it would already be a good distance in...

my advice is just really watch where you ride...stay out of the trash when ever you can

I have pulled several nails before they penetrated...which give rise to the idea that some nails don't get embedded on the first revolution. Of interest, is the observation that I have had more nails which penetrated on the outer edges of the rear tire contact patch.

As for avoiding trash in road, I stay away from
any asphalt which is not well travelled
(where junk naturally accumulates)

The down side to pulling nails as they happen
is probably some flats will be apparent much sooner than later...It easy to tell, a flat tire
as the bike start to steer funny...

If that nail is already half-way into your rear tire, then there is a chance that the nail can get jammed right into your scraper, causing an instant rear wheel lockup.

You figure out the rest.
