Yeah I read that article in Sportrider. When I took the MSF there were a lot of people that were taking the course because they were forced to by the military.
Our instructor also worked in the navy as an accident investigator and had mentioned something similar. :(

yeah i take my buddy back to pendelton every so often. he said that everybody in his shop had to attend a special motorcycle saftey class even if they did'nt have bikes. The roads there are nice and twisty, but not very well maintained. Apparently if you get cited on base for speeding your driving privilages are suspended for the rest of you time there, and if you're a civillian you get screwed big time.
One time i was driving him back late night, and had to pull over to let my girl yak on the side of the road, I was more worried about gettin the MP on my ass than my sick lady friend's well being.
