I'm looking for a nice textile jacket or a perforated leather jacket for my girlfriend. Basically something she can wear in the upcoming spring/summer. She recently settled on this leather Joe Rocket jacket eventhough it is not the most comfortable in the chest area... although it does have a womanly cut. It is not perforated so I know she won't want to wear it in the summer. Any particular brand/jacket-model I should look at?

Thanks in advance. :D

So... to recap: She's already purchased the above pictured leather non-perforated jacket for herself after much nagging on my part for her to wear gear while riding. It fits ok... I'd like to get her an additional jacket as a gift. A jacket that she'll still want to wear in the summer and one that fits well for a woman. I'm looking at the Joe Rocket Lotus jacket because it looks like it is cut just like the one pictured except it is textile.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i love my joe rocket mercury jacket...it has 4 vents, and it never seems THAT hot in the summer to me (it's not perforated tho). i dunno, usually when you're riding you don't get too hot anyway...its jsut when you stop, and you can take off your jacket

oh, the mercury is available at new enough, and it's priced well

I like the Alpinestar textile jacket. For me it's nice because I can layer polartec or thinsulate under it depending on condtions. It has a zip out liner which can be removed on warmer days. New it is about $160.

However, it is cut kind of strange across the chest. It is a close cut. Apparently designed to prevent excess air from ballooning it out while riding. She should try it before you buy it.

thanks for the advice, i really appreciate it. the most important thing is that she finally found a jacket she's willing to buy AND wear. she's been riding for so long(way before me) without proper jacket and pants that i was just happy she got that JR jacket and JR textile pants. very happy. i just know that once the weather heats up she's not going to want to wear that leather non-perfed jacket everywhere. so i am just trying to get one now to surprise her. plus i thought it'd be a nice valentine's day gift. but i know better than to be able to make a purchase like this a surprise when she really needs to try everything on. i may end up buying the JR Lotus as it looks to be the same exact cut except it is textile.

textile is much cooler(temperature wise) than leather isn't it?

not necessarily
i have a textile jacking i'm trying to get rid of because it's just TOO hot
its water resistant tho
maybe that's the problem...no breathability
