a friend has consulted me for which type of boots he should buy for an upcoming track day and street sport riding.
personally i have the sidi vertebra race, and, even with a narrow foot, they are uncomfortable for me. this guy has more of a wide-ish foot, just curious if certain brands are known to run wider than others?
when i go to buy new boots, it will be the Oxtar race replica. they are uber comfy and have great protection features.
thanks,
jSV
i've been on the search for wide boots ever since i started riding. my feet are wide and flat. i originally tried on alpinestars, sidi, and joe rocket. the joe rocket speedmasters were the least uncomfortable at the time. when i finally had to get dirt boots, i ordered some Gaerne boots over the internet per a friend's reccomendation. they turned out to be the most comfortable motorcycle boots i've ever tried. i eventually ordered their road race boots and ended up selling the joe rockets.
here's a link (http://gaerne.rideshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_3&products_id=23) to the boot. i'm sure you can find them for less with some searching.
thanks HZ.
also wanted to add that these boots are italian made and very good quality. the dirt boots broke in on my very first ride at Gorman. i've taken the road boots on several rides and love them.
your friend may want to try Oxtars as well.
I've found Sidi's to be good too.
I've just about worn the uppers out on my Alpinestars. The Velcro doesn't stick really well, but the soles are like new. Still comfy after several years.

Rayo I'm down to using duct tape for that , that velcro is the week link in MHO. The boots still got a little life left after 4yrs.
Whatever you do, steer away from SuperTechs - they have a very narrow toebox. My pair of Prexport boots were wide(r).

I know SIDI offers wide sizes in their pedal bike shoes, it wouldn't suprise me if they did with there moto boots too.
I find the A-Stars to be rather wide for my foot, which is a C/D.
the racers also enjoy the Gaernes

Daytonas are nice. You can get them from their exlcusive American distributor, Helimot (http://www.helimot.com).
