Let's get more SV's on the track!
Sportbike Riders Association is hosting a day at the Streets of Willow (a great SV track) on Monday August 19th. I think it's $135.

Also, Track Daz is hosting a day at Buttonwillow on Aug 24th and 25th (Sat. and Sun). It's only $135/day, no orientation fee.
I think there will be a BBQ/Band etc on Sat Night at the track.

Sign Up early, they fill up FAST! $135 is as cheap as it gets.
I'm definately gonna at both with the SV. It would be fun to run with a bunch of other SVs on the track
Which would you recommend for someone who has never been on a track before? I am really very interested but also would need to know what the requirements are for gear. I don't have leathers... Should I rent some?
Thanks

For the first track day, I'd say the one on the 19th at the streets of willow. It's a very technical track, but relatively slow top speeds (read nice SV Track).
Buttonwillow is a BLAST though, but in order to go fast on a SV you really have to carry alot of corner speed.
As far as leathers go, I'd say depends on your budget.
Are you a rich man? Get a set of custom made Z leathers or Vanson.
Not a rich man? Go to chapparall and buy a set. They have a big selection and good prices. I know, it sucks plunking down a couple of hundred bucks on a set of leathers, but it's an necessary investment and it pays off in the long run, and once you a do one track day, YOU WILL want to do more. Guaranteed!
Worst comes to worst, you can rent a set from Kneedraggers.com for like $100 or so.
I can't emphansize enough how much fun Track Days are. If you are a new rider, you'll drop months if not years off your learning curve! NO JOKE!
A girl e-mailed me last fall after she bought a new R-6. She had ridden a little bit before but not much. She rode the canyons a little, and in April did her first track day. She had great lines (no pun intended) but was slow her first day. Her second day she dropped about 20 seconds off her lap times. Since then she's done a few more days and a school. She is now running about 5-10 seconds slower then ME!!! Don't get me wrong, I'm not that fast, but that's tremdous progress in a short time.

Gregg, I'd say you should look into taking a second mortgage out on your house to pay for your hobby...;) Hey, you can't take it with you!!

Welcome to the Sportbike Lifestyle..........
You could get a Hardley and spend the money on Chrome, Fringe and beer! JK
Trust me, the excuse of "But I Need a New set of (Leathers, tires, truck, bike, helmet...)" Excuse is running thin around my house also ;)

hate being in debt. So a second mortgage is out of the question.
The first one is bad enough. I just need a rich relative or someone who wants to leave me millions $$$$$

Think about it though, wouldn't your SO be quite happy to have you in the best protective gear possible when you're out riding around?
Gregg, if she gives you stuff, ask her if she'd want you to die on the road somewhere without leathers... Actually, don't do that, cuz' then she won't even let you ride ;)

Starting to feel like a numbers pimp.............
Gregg,
This guy buy leathers off of the Fieldsheer wherehouse. You can get full leathers from him for alot less than you would in a store.
Name: Brian Muoio
Phone # : 949 689 5938
I bought an armored leather jacket (high quality) for $50. The only problem with it was that the Fieldsheer Logo was peeling off. Easy fix........ I just took the whole damn thing off.......... and still have great protection.
My full suit..... I went to the Fieldsheer wherehouse itself. Cost me $450..... with gloves. And I over-paid. You can probably talk him down. Try $300.
Good luck.
By the way......... I'm going to ButtonWillow on Sunday, August 25th. Common people........... lets go. It will be fun.
