Well... tip-toeing cautiously here.

I'm baaack - sort of.

Major medical and other debts/expenses still to pay (did I say crashing sucks?)

A year out of racing but got a FULL sponsorship on the Buell by Bartels! ALL tires, fees, maintenance and repairs paid by Bartels HD/Buell. I have to do some writing and PR but hey, it's a small price to pay.

Cool gig.

For now, am letting Jeff Dixon race the bike until I'm outta debt. We're rebuilding the top end and Jeff can put the bike on the podium (he's running 1:29 practice laps).

I'm not worthy of this company - Bartels sponsors Shawn Higbee and Jay Springsteen and now Steve Slaughter??!!

Bike is now painted same as Higbee's bikes so that all the "Official" Bartels road race bikes look the same.

We'll see if we can get Dixon into WERA too.

Gonna be interesting being a "team owner" - and return to racing is still a half year away.

Congratulations Steve!

It is always great to see you up there and it will be good to have you back out on the track soon. Good luck!

Thanks Andy.

Stop by the pits on Sunday - lunch is always free (really, I'm not making that up)

Steveb has the SV that I used to race as his "B" bike and his "A" bike (orange) the sweetest SV you ever did see. We're all up towards turn 1.

And no, the Buell crowd is NOT a Harley crowd!

I don't know, I have seen lots of cuffed levi's, white T-shirts and even cool chicks, all tell tale signs of Harley folks:D

Nah, those are rat rod cats and kittens you're describing. :p

Congrats, Steve! Say, you doing any track days soon...?

Hope to hit a few track days in the coming months but have to time them to not interfere with WSMC and WERA races - since if I wad the bike up again, we have to have time to get it fixed before the next race.

Steveb has offered the SV - but my main problem is $$$

When it looked like it could be a year or more out of work after my T1 highside, Sunny paid off a TON of my race and motorcycle debt out of her own money. I owe her big time and if it was just between me and the bank, I'd probably be back out there racing (and probably getting back into debt again) but since it's not just me owing medical and VISA money but owing Sunny money, I have to let it ride until I've paid her off. Patience is not one of my strong points but I gotta do what's right.

(She's a cool lady)

Nice. I think you will make a good team owner. You can't crash as much when someone else is riding your bike. ;)

Yeah... gonna be an interesting year for Lavin-Yurassov. Scott Jensen asked me to manage his AMA SBK and FX publicity and we're trying to get Dixon further funding to hit WERA...

...we'll see.

Steve - Glad you are getting back into it! I'm still the official leader of "TEAM GERITOL".
I want to do a track day on my ZX 9 at Willow Springs on the big track soon. Maybe we old farts could do a track day together!:D

Now we're talking!

We should restrict it to keep those kids younger than 50 off of our racetrack!

Just got word on the top end rebuild, valve seats and guides. Might not make it out of the machine shop in time for Willow.

We'll put Dixon on the Big Bartels Bike. It's going to be fixed after Jeff Ecklund's little turn 8 get-off and bike launch last month:

Despite what they say, you CAN crash a Buell pretty fooking hard.

(Ecklund goes in for heel surgery tomorrow)
