i think when you take your bike into the dealer you have to disable it because it will mess with their diagnostic equipment

if you don't have one with a switch or the "smartchips" you will lose your cold start fast idle...three years with mine and nothing yet
dealer said nothing to me when i got a new tank.
My 1000 had cough and stall problems when warming up with the TRE. I removed it and it got better. I don't know of the HP benefits for sure. Only an engineer in Japan knows for sure... ;)

there is no horsepower gain with a TRE...those ebay guys are just trying to sell them to the squids who will believe it... it just does it's job...eliminates the retarding of the iginition...

I havent had any problems with the TRE - but its a smart one... soo give yours a quick IQ test before the install....
As far as the HP - more advance = more power. So while you only get it at less than half throttle in gears 1-4, you are getting more power...

Back in 04 when I put the TRE on my bike it had all kinds of problems, so I got rid of it, got a powercommander and dynotuned and haven't looked back since
