I've had my sv for 4 years now, I have a 2002 naked with carbs. I was riding downtown last weekend when I gave the bike a little gas and she died on me. I haven't been able to get it started since.
Things I have done...
Tried one day of "bump starting" it , changed spark plugs, used the starting fluid direct shot into engine, and then in the carbs after that didn't work. Checked the coils to see if they were bad, but they check out. After that, I opened the crank case up and found that I had a toasted stator (magneto). Replaced that for a rediculous sum of money and I STILL have no spark. I've been trying to find if anyone else has had this problem and I think mine might be worse off now. A mechanic told me I might have burned out my Ignition controller....anyone know what else could be the problem??? Would a bad RR (rectifier/regulator) cause no sparks??? Please help, it's been a week of clear skies up here and I have been dying to ride. THanks!
