How hard is it to replace the gearshift lever? The rubber piece broke off in a tip over. Advise needed.

it is pretty easy. I had to replace mine just a month or so ago. the heel plate has to come off first. There is a main allen screw behind it.(very large) loosen off the allen bolt and you will be able to tell how the rest comes off. only takes like twenty min or so to do.

If you're feeling like MacGuyver....
You said the end broke off. Is the rest of the lever still there and working properly?
You can drill a hole in the end and put a screw and two nuts through the end to make a new tab for shifting. Then find the old rubber cushion or a plastic tube or heatshrink or something to fatten it up and keep it from tearing your boot.
This should only take one trip to the hardware store and about fifteen minutes with drill and tools. Using a Dremel to round off the shift-lever end will make it pretty again.
And it'll cost you 25 cents.
Good luck.

The shift rod has reverse threads on one or both end(s) (I can't remember). Be careful not to snap it by torquing it the wrong way like I did my first time.

How do you get the bolt from the old gearshifter out & into the new one?
