There are 7 bolts that hold the cylinder head onto the cylinder. 4 "serious" bolts around the tappets/valves, 2 dainty ones on the right of the slot for the cam chain and 1 allen head bolt on the outside.

The service manual lists torque specs for the main 4 bolts, but it doesn't say anything more specific than "tighten them" about the other 3. I've looked through the section that lists the torque for every bolt on the bike, and they don't seem to be there either.

Has anyone run into this, and what did you end up torquing them to? FYI, torque on the big bolts is 30.5 ft/lbs. I'm guessing this much would strip the head on the allen bolt, and I'm not overly confident about the other two bolts either.

if they are allen heads you shouldnt torque them down too much..if no listing can be found anywhere i saw tighten them to where they are pretty snug, then give it another 1/4- 1/2 turn after that to make it tight like a tiger

edit:

found it for you pg 3-109 they are 10 ft lbs

You can tighten any bolt according to a standard torque chart like one of these:
http://www.stanleyproto.com/default.asp?TYPE=STATICLEFT&PAGE=ConversionsCharts.htm&LEFT=left_ConversionsCharts.htm

or this one:

Measure the shank diameter (not head) to figure out how tight it should be.

Tighten it till it breaks, cuss, take it out, then don't tighten the others as much. What's so hard about that? Oh, and drink beer.

Those charts should come in handy.

I think I'm going to go with 10 ft/lbs based on that chart and other similar bolts in the manual.

Thanks guys.
