View Full Version : Fuel sensor caput. No warning light!
I just realised my fuel sensor is a no no. I've got to replace it but although I've done f*ck all on my bike I've never done this. Do you need a gasket or something? To say the truth I haven't had the chance to pop the tank up yet, so I don't know what is needed, but I'm pretty sure it's the sensor as the lamp is ok and the wiring's fine too.
Anyone done this? Maybe a hint or two on how to go about this.

It is pretty easy. It unscrews out of the bottom of the tank. I would suggest running out of gas first
and I think it's nothing you have to clean/service just replace right?

The best way to work on the fuel pump is to take the tank off. First remove the tank bolts by the triple tree. Remove the seat. Prop the tank up. Remove the 2 vent hoses. Have a cup handy to disconnect the fuel line. Now unbolt the hinge pin bolt. Now pickup the tank and set it upside down in the grass. Now unscrew the bolts holding the pump in. And there you go, you have your pump in hand and didn't dump $20+ dollars in gas. When you goto put the pump back in. Put some grease on the big o-ring. So that it won't leak and you get a good seal.

I just figured out I have this same problem. At about 180 miles (with out the light going on) my motorcycle ran out of gas on the freeway. I was lucky enough to get out on a exit that has a gas station on the corner.
Does anybody have the model # or part # so that I can order the pump, so that it can be replaced ?
Thanks
