View Full Version : Movie: Cars
just got back from the theatre. score one more for pixar! i had mixed feelings going into the movie, thinking that it would be a buddy movie between lightning mcqueen (owen wilson) and tow mater (larry the cable guy). the movie turned out to be more than that, thank god.
the message i got from the movie was about remembering and respecting the past and the previous generations (that comment might make more sense after you watch the movie). the pit stop scene near the end was awesome and paul newman's character, doc hudson, was great.
i saw a discussion somewhere that the story for "cars" was similar to "doc hollywood," starring michael j. fox. i never saw "doc hollywood" so i can't confirm or deny this. anyone?

Saw it, liked it.
If I was still racing R/C cars I'd want to see if anyone was making a Lightning McQueen body, and I'd do it up in his fourth-act paint job, but I don't suppose Pro-Line can afford the license.

The movie was awesome!! There are certainly parrallels that can be drawn between Doc Hollywood and Cars. But they are pretty loose if you ask me.
I thought the movie was great.
I especially liked the tattoo scene!

i haven't seen it yet, but i can't wait to! pixar did TONS of research not only on the car models depicted, but on the racetracks and surrounding areas...apparently if you pay really close attention you might see some VERY humorous details in most of the backgrounds
HAHAHA... i watched it at midnight at the el capitan... here are some pictures of the life size models of the cars...

As for me, i loved the movie especial guido the small pit crew guy... he freaking rocks ass!!!
Saw it yesterday with my wife and 3 year old. Overall, entertaining, but my kid got antsy during some of of the parts (as did I). Animation was awesome, but story was average. I still think Toy Story is their best movie to date.

Fantastic movie, story a bit formulaic (Disney, duh) but brilliantly written.
There was an AWFUL lot of work in that movie, technically superb, but the attention to detail was fantastic, lots of little 'in' jokes if you follow motorsport and cars in general :)

had a bit of a slow part but I LOVED this movie
someday we'll make the Route 66 drive... someday
I watched movie with wife and kids. All big NASCAR fans, but you need not like NASCAR to enjoy movie. In my humble opinion, the only thing missing was a motorcycle! (SHE LOVES ME FOR MY BODY) After all the movie did have a cruising scene.

Kinda hard to have motorcycles in a world that has no people :)
Notice there were no convertibles either, well, none that I recall anyway.
