View Full Version : Usernames...?

buymenow00
Wed 7/10/02, 9:30PM
This was done on the main board awhile back, now I'm curious about some of the usernames here...how'd you get them? What do they mean?

Examples are:

Setter32. Huh? Like what? Irish Setter? That's a dog, fer cryin' out loud! What's the 32? Who's number is that? I guess Rod is a big Shaq fan...

Burst: I'm almost afraid to ask. Hey Doc, my appendix just BURST ! Is it something like that? Please don't say "Burst of Speed"...originality points = 0 if that's the one. Maybe it's a nickname his wife gave him...;)

Bugg77: Another scary one. Hmmm...1977, Jimmy Carter was President and the country was going down the tubes...Bugg? Like Volkswagen Bug? June bug? Quit BUGG ING me!

buymenow00: I'm a part-time gigolo...bwahahahaha! OK, OK, just kidding...This is my ebay username. One day I cleaned out all my crap and decided to put it on ebay...I figured that this would be a clever username, and of course, someone else thought so too...that's why the 00, signifying the year 2000. Don't laugh...I've probably gotten over $4000 for stuff that I would've ordinarily blown out at a garage sale!! Ebay rawks!!!

OK, the men in the lab coats are here and they say I have to get off the computer now...sorry. :clown:

Burst
Wed 7/10/02, 9:42PM
i needed a username and could not think of anything clever. so i said the first thing that pops into my head is what i'll use. well i had put my lunch in the microwave at work and i guess i cooked it a little too long because it BURST all over the inside of the micro. (turkeydogs) so that is what i used. of course the first thing that really popped into my head was *fuck!! now i'm gonna have to clean that mess up*
but that would have been a very very long username. sooo..... there ya go. burst

Setter32
Wed 7/10/02, 10:23PM
mr. "BuyMe"......... "Buy Me"........That's what a ho said to me once on PCH. Any relations?.......:D

Setter = my favorite position to play in volleyball. Loved setting up that ball for a sweet hit. When I was living in Manhattan Bch and Hermosa Bch, I used to play alot of volleyball. Beach during the day.......... and indoors at night.

32 = the number of times I will kick your ass if you fuck with me.

.......... bitch.

Wed 7/10/02, 10:49PM
Nothing exciting about my username. " rb" is just my initials, and the 643 part was just an old employee number of mine. I thought about changing it to something else, but i've been using this handle for such a long time now...naaa....... Ok, you forced it out of me.

Gmoney
Wed 7/10/02, 10:56PM

Bugg77
Thu 7/11/02, 6:38AM
Well Bug is part of an old family nick name (that I refuse to repeat) and I spell it with two g's because I spell my first name with two m's (Jimm)... and the 77 is the year I was born... see I'm one of the young guys on the board!

Now was that so hard to figure out? I didn't think so!!

Mike! DUDE!! GET A FUCKING HOBBY!! LOL :D

... on a side note, I've felt the need to swear more often since Nate's been missing. What up with that?

Burst
Thu 7/11/02, 10:44AM
That's not so young. I was born in 77 as well. At least we've got a ways to go before we are considered *old*....

huh, you are precisely 20 days older than me.

Who is the youngest rider on this board? Should maybe go into a new thread?
I now one of the girls who recently started posting is 19. Anyone younger than that?

bwarbiany
Thu 7/11/02, 10:54AM
bwarbiany...

While, it came from my email account... There was already a warbiany@ (my brother), so mine became bwarbiany since Brad starts with B... I'm sure this was probably figured out a long time ago by those of you on the board though...

And I'm not 19, but I'm younger than Gregg and Jimm... Born in '78...

My username is from ebay account also. Other than that I wanted Vip short for Vipul (official name) since most of my friends call me that (vip) and Vipulkumar (original name) was too much of a tounge twister. Someone already took Vip and I did not want any number behind me.

Mine basically came from a nickname coworkers gave me. I work as a system/security admin. My coworkers use to tell me I "shadow" everything (I figured I was 'lurking' more than anything :) ). Also around this time the movie "the Shadow" came out (played by actor Alec Baldwin), so they stuck the name to me.

Since I didn't really care for the name "shadow" (or Lurk), I did a quick net search and found the old english spelling= Sceadu - pronounced "shay-doh ". Since then it's stuck, and some call me Scea ("shay") for short.

Dude I am glad I kept pestering you! I told you this was a kickass bike! :)

As for my name..the primary concern I had was getting my .com, and then I wanted something scientific, so I searched science-related documents and found Nucleon. Then, I changed it to the German version and NukleoN was born. By the way this word means 'a particle in an atomic nucleus' such as a proton, neutron or electron.

Mine comes from my fave number 23, and my military nickname. I have a tendency to blurt out or do whatever comes to mind regardless of what trouble it gets me into.

It actually comes from "Sensitivity Briefing" (Sexual/Racial/etc Harrassment) that we all go thru. If something offensive is said, the "victim" is supposed to say "That's a red-light zone." in order to let the "offender" know not to "go there."

Lets see here, we could easily get to the root of my Screen Name with a simple trip in the Wayback Machine, so if you would be so kind Mr. Peabody, set the machine to 1596.

The first use of the word being so archaic, is to define in modern terms a prostitute. Since I, in fact, have and would again gain profit for sexual exchanges, there insofar is derived the first portion of my compound worded internet moniker. Here is a reference to Mr. Daniel Websters acclaimed dictionary to define:

Main Entry: 1punk
Pronunciation: 'p&[ng]k
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
Date:
1 archaic : PROSTITUTE

Having cleared that up, lets progress to the second portion of the word. The "brad" portion, as some of you may know is defined as a nail or spike. Defined again by Webster as such:

Main Entry: 1brad
Pronunciation: 'brad
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old Norse broddr spike; perhaps akin to Old English byrst bristle -- more at BRISTLE
Date: 13th century
1 : a spike or nail with a barrel-shaped head

I believe this speaks for itself. Its clearly a reference to my penis, which I would freely "punk" upon given chance.

So there you have it, Punkbrad is just another term for a man-whore. Its all really quite simple. I still don't know why people call me Bradley. My birthgiven name is Xavier. I guess its easier to pronounce. Anyway, have a nice day.

Xavier.

Wed 10/23/02, 8:35AM
Soooooooooooo

da name comes from a movie "Warriors" that came out in the late seventys or maybe eighty about a gang from New York wrongfully accused of whacking another gangs leader. The other gangs leader was trying to "Unionize" the gangs and they would take over the city (I have a dream) but he was cut down before they could do it.
Swann was the hero of the picture and the warlord of the warriors gangs. He was very cool, like James Bond in a wife beater, and the story took place as they tried to make it home that night.
I don't remember if he used two N's in his name but living in SF I thought it better so that I wouldn't be asked to wear a tutu and prance about.
After reading this thread I feel really old and am afraid when I get my bike this spring I will throw a leg over her and break my hip.

Screw it, I will still get the bike, I can get away with riding side saddle.

Hell yeah! I've had that running through my head the last week or so, for some reason... I've gotta find a copy.

BTW, I'm pretty sure he was also in Dreamscape with dennis quaid, and possibly also The Crow as... a character who I can't believe I've forgot his name, given that I own the movie, a couple trade paperbacks... a book... blah. Yeah, that guy.

Sinaz
Thu 12/9/04, 1:35PM
Sinaz is a truncation of 'Sinazucar'... spanish/portugeuse for "Sugar-Free." I saw it microprinted on a lozenge wrapper from a German hotel along with "Sugar-free" microprinted in every major written language of the globe.

I thought it sounded sinister and started using it as a screenname in Highschool.

I shortened it to Sinaz because I have a group of friends up in Detroit who call me "Sinaz" in real life. So it's become a working nickname.

killstealer
Fri 12/10/04, 1:27AM
I'm bored so...

Similar to other's names, mine has to do with gaming:

*killstealer - someone who lets another person do all the work for them, then jumps in for the finishing blow, stealing the "kill," as well as the experience.*

I was never a killstealer, they are one of the most vial beings to come across in the games I play (player vs. evironment), however, I took the name for three reasons:

1. indiscernible sarcasm runs in my blood,

2. to move past all the hatred I'd accumulated , having dealt with such people for as long as I did, and...

3. to see who "judges a book by it's cover."

CrowLaw
Sun 12/12/04, 10:57AM
CrowLaw [I'm a law school student with a spiritual side]

Crow
Law

Crow…Are you “cawing,”
So I may know,
The secrets of balance
Within my soul?

Or are you sending,
Your sacred “caw”
just to remind me,
Of universal laws?

There is a medicine story that tells of Crow’s fascination with her own shadow. She kept looking at it, scratching it, pecking at it, until her shadow woke up and became alive. Then Crow’s shadow ate her. Crow is Dead Crow now.

Dead Crow is the Left-Handed guardian. If you look deeply into Crow’s eye, you will have found the gateway to the supernatural. Crow knows the unknowable mysteries of creation and is the keeper of all sacred law.

Since Crow is the keeper of sacred law, Crow can bend the laws of the physical universe and “shape shift.” This ability is rare and unique. Few adepts exist in today’s world, and fewer still have mastered Crow’s art of shape shifting. This art includes doubling, or being in two places at the same time consciously; taking on another physical form, and becoming the “fly on the wall” to observe what is happening far away.

The Europeans that came to Turtle Island were named the “boat people” by Slow Turtle. Even with the knowledge of alchemy possessed by certain boat people, none had ever seen the powerful shape shifting of shamans who utilized Crow medicine. Many boat people were frightened by what appeared to be animals coming into their camps or dwellings to discern their medicine. Crow medicine people are masters of illusion.

All sacred texts are under the protection of Crow. Creator’s Book of Laws or Book of Seals is bound in Crow feathers. Crow feathers tell of spirit made flesh. Crow is also the protector of the “ogallah” or ancient records.

The sacred Law belts, or Wampum Belts, beaded by native women long before the boat people or Europeans came to this continent, contain knowledge of the Great Spirit’s laws, and are kept in the black lodges, the lodges of women. The law which state that “all things are born of women” is signified by Crow.

Children are taught to behave according to the rules of a particular culture. Most orthodox religious systems create a mandate concerning acceptable behavior within the context of worldly affairs. Do this and so, and you will go to heaven. Do thus and so, and you will go to hell. Different formulas for salvation are demanded by each “true faith.”

Human law is not the same as Sacred Law. More so than any other medicine, Crow sees that the physical work and even the spiritual world, as humanity interprets them, are an illusion. There are billions of worlds. There are an infinitude of creatures. Great Spirit is within all. If an individual obeys Crow’s perfect laws as given by the creator, then at death he or she dies a Good Medicine death—going on to the next incarnation with a clear memory of his or her past.

Crow is an omen of change. Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time. The Ancient Chiefs tell us that Crow sees simultaneously the three fates—past, present and future. Crow merges light and darkness, seeing both inner and outer reality.

Crow asks that you pause and reflect on how you see the laws of the Great Spirit in relation to the laws of humanity. Crow medicine signifies a firsthand knowledge of a higher order of right and wrong than that indicated by the laws created in human culture. With Crow medicine, you speak in a powerful voice when addressing issues that for you seem out of harmony, out of balance, out of whack, or unjust.

Remember that Crow looks at the world with first one eye, and then the other—cross-eyed. In the Mayan culture, cross-eyeds had the privilege and duty of looking into the future. You must put aside your fear of being a voice in the wilderness and “caw” the shots as you see them.

As you learn to allow your personal integrity to be your guide, your sense of feeling alone will vanish. Your personal will can then emerge so that you will stand in your truth. The prime path of true Crow people says to be mindful of your opinions and actions. Be willing to walk your talk, speak your truth, know your life’s mission, and balance past, present, and future in the now. Shape shift that old reality and become your future self. Allow the bending of physical laws to aid in creating the shape shifted world of peace.

Mine is nothing special:

Hoolie is the spanish phonetic of my given name, Julie. Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but there are lots of Hispanics in Southern California. ;) So I grew up hearing "Hoolie" and just as a goof with some of my girlfriends who call me that, I sign notes and whatnot as "Hoolie". The B part of "HoolieB" is simply the first intial of my last name.

And for those few who have actually had the pleasure(?) of riding with me, they well know that there is nothing "hooligan" about "HoolieB". :p

Oh yeah, and I'm pretty slow on the SV too.

Bio for my line of work, working on lyophilisers, cryogenic equipment and ultra low temp freezers for the Bio-Pharmaceutical community.

Wow, and here I always thought it was because you were Bi! Actually, your name could of just as easily been "CryoTek". Although then people would probably think you cry alot. Hehe, joking of course ;) .

My handle is:

Jasinner
Pronounced (jay - sinner)
Its Jason + Sinner
My best friend gave me the name back in 94 or 95 there abouts when I was trying to think of a handle. The idea was that even though I was young when I thought of the name, I scoffed of the idea of original sin (or that people are born sinners). Later it came to represent my agnosticism. Plus it made me sound all hard core, which if you know me, I'm not at all.

So jcruisejay comes from:

jcruise = the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland. I used to be one of those wise-crackin' Jungle Cruise Skippers back in my college days.

jay = just short for Jason

LiN Mae

"Lin" is a nickname my family calls me and "Mae" comes from my first name "Eileen Mae."

LiN Mae just sounded better than Eileen Mae in my opinion (and the capitalized "n" at the end of Lin is just to annoy people. :D)

LowSpdWobble

Well...my first bike was a ninja 250. One time, I got what seemed to be a high speed wobble on the freeway. I tried to tell my friends about it...but since everyone knows ninja250's are incapable of high speeds...it was a lowspdwobble. 4 yrs and 3 bikes later, the name still sticks.
