Okay, it's actually called The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift , but it will always be 3F3F to me.
Opens tomorrow at a theatre near you, and I ordinarily wouldn't give a shit and a half, but I actually was Lucas Black's stand-in, and hand/foot double for everyone who's white. Also, I'm riding a scooter in a couple of scenes, but the helmet is on and they're action scenes, so I'm probably just a blur.
Also I got to be the guy's stunt double for what will probably be about a quarter of a second in the finished film. That was pretty awesome.
Anyway, I've actually read some decent reviews of it. Obviously it ain't Shakespeare, but it might turn out to be a half-decent big dumb action flick, and I guarantee the driving stunts are going to be fun, because I got to watch most of them get filmed.
I'm probably going to go down to the Cinemark theatres at the Pike in Long Beach tomorrow afternoon to see it, if anyone wants to go. I have 2 tickets, so whoever calls dibs first and meets me down there can have the second one.

I'll netflix it. I enjoyed the first two, as well as Biker Boyz and Torque, even they all sucked to high heaven.
At least the F&F franchise always has a tiny tip of the hat to domestic muscle in each film.
Plus, I enjoy watching Rhys Millen's drifting, (The traffic circle scene in DoH was awesome.)

Yeah, I got to be Rhys's passenger a bunch of times. That guy's frickin' amazing.

I heard it was entertaining. But it's just too hard for *me* to be entertained by a subject that I'm really interested in...I'll notice the "Hollywoodization" too much.
Not to mention I lived in Tokyo for a year, so I'll be cringing at how unrealistic things are.
It's better to watch a movie in which you hardly understand the subject. Then you won't nitpick and actually have a good time.

i just came back from watching this..i was actually suprised that it was better than i expected...it might've been it was based on a kick ass racing style, or it was set in japan with a buncha japanese hotties, or the story line wasnt as cheesy as the first 2 and actually have some heart to it....but it was an entertaining flick

Well, I just got back from seeing it, and I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't suck nearly at all.
I remember reading through the daily scripts, thinking that some of the dialogue was utterly retarded, like Anakin in ep. 2 and 3 cringleworthy, and I guess the editors agreed with me and cut out most of the really awkward bits, like the kiss that they had to use a double for. In the end, it still wasn't Shakespeare - hell, it wasn't Whedon, but for a big dumb fast action movie about a nonsense racing style that actually makes you slower, it worked out okay.
Only criticisms I can think of:
-The cellphone camera POV shots. Lame. What is this, a Verizon commercial?
-All the mid-race rapid cutting back and forth from Racer 1's face, Racer 2's face, and Racers 1 and 2's hands, wheels, etc. etc.. At moments, it made it hard to figure out exactly what the hell was going on. But maybe that's just me getting slow in my old age, and in a few months I'll be sitting on a porch swing yelling at passing kids to get off the damn lawn.
I liked it, though. Hell, I saw it get filmed, and some of the racing bits still had me figuratively on the edge of my seat, heart rate up, arthritis givin' me shit.
I give it 3.5 big floppy Vin Diesel penises, out of five. I thought it may have been better than the first Furious movie, and was definitely better than the shitfest that was 2 Fast 2 Furious.
SPOILERS
Also, that bit at the end with Vin Diesel ? I had no idea that was going to happen, after being on set with first unit every single day they filmed in this country. Surprised the shit out of me, or maybe that's just me losing bowel control after all these years.

They showed Vinny Diesel in a commercial I saw on TV for 3F3F, something where he's in a car and says something like, "r u ready for this" or some other cheesey macho thing. I thought he must be hurtin' if he's making a cameo in this... did anyone here even see The Pacifier?

Just saw it. It wasn't bad. Would be right at home as a Saturday afternoon movie on TNT or Spike. Lots of action, very linear plot. I did kind of miss the cloak and dagger undercover cop bit, or at least something like it. Everything in the movie is exactly as it seems. The only surprise was the Vin Diesel cameo at the end, and that's been spoiled by the ads.
I was glad I didn't have to pay for it. We got tickets for voting for "best of show" at a little local car show. Otherwise we'd have gone to "Nacho Libre" and maybe never seen it until it hit basic cable.
Vin Diesel, BTW, is fine for money and making the movies he wants to make. At least according to an interview I read a while back. They mentioned Pacifier and he went on about how much fun it was to make. What do you want, more stupid Riddick movies? I look at that and say, "Judi Dench must be hurtin' if she's in this..."
Glad to see Sonny Chiba is still getting work...

I had the Knight Rider big wheel with the red "e" brake handle for drfiting. That was the best!

My '69 Cougar would do the same thing. But back in the day we said you have a bad uspension set-up.

It made me think of the bit in "Cars" with the gang of three lit-up, body kitted, low-slung tuner cars and the one musclecar tagging along, clearly far more powerful but tippy and couldn't keep up except in short bursts...

I did one drift on rainy roads in my 69 Camino. It was accidental, but I pulled it out like a pro (it's still my first and only drift in a RWD car). Good thing I pulled it out like a pro because I was pointed right at a light/signal pole sitting on a curb to the right and traffic was immediately adjacent to me in the left lane. (I goosed the throttle to jump into traffic from a stop turning right.)

I haven't seen it yet but have read some articles on it. I expect it to be about as realistic with regards to the cars as the first one (anyone remember MoTec Exhausts?). Especially ***Spoiler*** the GT-R powered Mustang. I know, I know, there was a GT-R powered Stang that was built, but it took a lot longer than one night with a lot more engineers than that. Talk about a PITA engine swap!
Regardless, I will probably see it as a matinee or something. The driving looks bad-ass! Rhys and Tanner really cut some lines from what I've seen.

Someone's been watching Jack Black promos...
My car always shows up in those movies, I got to see it drifting through the mountains this time. Corny plot, perhaps, but I liked the movie; and it's cool to meet someone from the filming. Drifting may be theoretically slower, but for pure excitement it's hard to beat.
