Someone on the CMRRA board is selling a well setup RS50 for an AMAZING price. I'd get it for a spare engine, but don't have the cash. It would be a great way for someone to get into mini road racing. It's probably the cheapest way to get into racing and a ton of fun, while you build skills.

I have nothing to do with the sale of it, just happened to see it.

Also, when I purchased mine it was about three times the cost with fewer mods, so it's a great deal.

$5000 is a bad deal?

For an RS50, yeah. $500 on the other hand... as long as the engine runs, is an amazing deal.. hell, even if the engine doesn't run.

well i bought it. it runs terrific. and has some nice parts. not the least of which include a sweet set of arrow pipes. and it is way cleaner than i expected. i REALLY wasn't looking to buy another bike. but the price certainly was right. thanks for the heads up. i'll get some pics up later.

you know when you dont bother trying to buy a bike because you think that by the time you call for it, it will be gone? Yeah. I've never kicked myself so hard before. Care to resell?:(

Hells yeah! Am I going to see you in the CMRRA, then?

Also.. I'm kinda sad to see it sell, because I really could have used the spare engine :)

Well, the CMRRA is going to be at the willow kart track next month on the 1st and 2nd... you should come out and at least practice! Also, if you need any help working on it I know my way around the bike pretty well.... annnnd for aftermarket parts, www.af1racing.com is the place to go....... annnnnnnddd for race fairings, airtech has them for the rs50, which is what I have on mine.

If the bike is still running the oil injectors I would highly recommend removing the system and running premix. From the looks of it as well, there's plenty of lightening to be done on the bike.

thanks, i think i'll take you up on that! what's your name? the injectors have been stripped for premix. i can pic the bike up off the ground..it's about 150 lbs so coming from my sv650 and even my small rd400, this thing is pretty light!

druiid

Justice, is the name. Yeah, the bike is 140 with everything stripped. They're amazingly fun to throw around.. and with good tires and suspension, very easy to get damn far leaned over. I'm #25 in the CMRRA and usually make most of the races. Also, the bike apparently does best at SOW. I haven't had a chance to go to one of the races on that track yet, though. If you have any questions about the bike, feel free to e-mail or PM me.

Also, if Kurt tells you it's a pit-bike... Don't listen :). Most pit-bikes can't beat a 600 around SOW :D.

... so this thing cost $500 ?!?!

shit, for that price, i woulda bought it sight un-seen and had it shipped to me in NH.

yeah, i thought it was a typo from 500 to 5000! damn! good for you, warmseth, for jumping on that! lemme know if you wanna turn it around :D

druiid

Unless you guys are going to start racing in the CMRRA, no one else can have it.. I say so :D

That thing is legal for WERA minis. :) Buttonwillow in 2 weeks........bring it out!!!

You can also take that out to adams kart track on wed. nights and get lots of track time for dirt cheap.

a) There will be 2 WERA Mini’s classes as follows:

50cc - 65cc 2-stroke machines based on Superbike rules
Up to 125cc 4-stroke machines based on Superbike rules

at 50 lbs if those little bastards can't beat me, they deserve to lose.

oh crap, i think i was hanging out with kurt too much this weekend;)

druiid

Yeah, pretty much with the mini racing it's like.. there are kids and then there are adults. It doesn't matter how good of a rider you are.. you're not beating the kids and you just eventually get over it :). As for Wera, I'll have to look into that for next season.. maybe race both CMRRA and WERA.

i went to the long beach moto swapmeet this past weekend...it's usually full of harleys and custom coppers and the like, but this weekend they had some AWESOME stuff! lotsa vintage import stuff...they had an older YSR that i almost bought...except he was asking a grand...BAH (the plastics were in pretty rough shape...but mechanically it looked good).

man, i'm glad someone here got this smokin deal

druiid
Mon 6/26/06, 9:01AM
If you were looking to get a YSR there are TONS for sale on the CMRRA board right now. One of my friends from the CMRRA, Jason, is selling his as well. It's a known trophy winner.

warmseth
Mon 6/26/06, 9:11AM
and a grand is really not that mch for a nice ysr. also ysr's are just barely "vintage". at least in the vintage circles i run in ;)

ysr's are a blast though you should get one sandie and start racin'. druid, i think i'm going to come out to the kart track next round at willow and check it out. i'll bring the rs50 and see about racing it. al lyons said i could basically just show up and race.

sandie
Mon 6/26/06, 9:31AM
yeah, i'm not really in the market, but they sure are fun...and yeah, this woulda been a good deal if it wasn't so rough...and it was a mid 80's model...in my book, that's vintage ;) (for a bike anyway)

i still think you should just sell me the RS50 tho :D

OOOOOOOOOO and i saw this ascot in the parking lot for sale...it was in PRISTINE condition, original owner, had 110k on the odo! he was asking a grand...OBO!!!! i took pics of that one i'll have to post...got the guys number if anyone is interested

druiid
Mon 6/26/06, 11:28AM
Well, the mid 80's was when the ysr's were produced :). There's no 2000 versions of them.. although that would be neat.

Here's the YSR I mentioned: http://www.racecmrra.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=117&PN=1

Warmseth.. I'll see you out there. If you haven't gotten stuff for the bike yet, here's what you'll need to do to get ready for the races on the two-stroke

First make sure you have of course wired everything.. second you'll need to purchase some good synthetic 2-stroke premix, new oil (the RS50 should have oil changed after every race weekend), plenty of various bolts and nuts that might be able to sheer off (I'll have a good number of various parts with me)... and the other basics that you'd bring to normal racing.

For premix oil and oil I recommend the castrol racing stuff. For the engine oil the manual says 75w-90, but really there's not much reason to run that weight of oil. The castrol stuff worked great for me so far:

http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productdetailmin.do?categoryId=82915511&contentId=6004101

I have the 5w-40, but I'd go for the 10w-40.
