Hey,
I just wanted to upload a new avatar, and it told me it's a max of 150 by 150 pixels... I'm guessing it doesn't do auto-resizing... How can I resize it to that size?

Brad
[edit] nevermind, it auto-resizes.

save your image off the net if thats where its at, then open it in paint .. go to edit, then select all, and then go to the bottom right corner until you get the little diagonal arrow, and drag it to the top left corner, at the bottom of the paint program, you will see the pixel guide, when you get to 150X150, stop and save the pic...

Just about any image/photo editor can resize an image. If you've never done it and have no clue how to resize an image, the easiest way is to upload it in the Photo Gallery and use the thumbnail image link.

I'm trying to figure out how to change the size on a GIF animation, but it's not being nice to me, so I thought I'd try this one instead.

Sheesh.. I've gone punk-rock and choose not to have an avatar, or better yet, the anti-avatar. in protest of all the rampant abuse of avatarism. all i wanted was a smoking monkey to look at because it made me laugh, and now the idea is runied, damn fashion and culture all to hell!!!

So does a joint smoking gopher bother you???
I made some mods so you can now save yourselves from resizing your avatars. Just use any image (less than 1MB in filesize) as your custom uploaded avatar, and it'll auto-magically resize to width of 150 pixels! No longer will you have to figure out how to resize your image to use as an avatar!
Same thing for attaching images. They'll all get resized to 450 pixels width. This does not apply to those images using the [ img] and [ img] tags; only those "attached".
Yay! Let me know if there's any problems.

That was one of the projects we did in one of my C classes... I remember being really surprised that my code worked... Fun stuff.

I'm merging your thread with this same question (that has been asked many many times)
Thanks Paul, you are so good about ironing out the little things with this message board. I think you really have the best one out there! ;)

We! We really have the best one out there. Paul wouldn't have this great site if it wasn't for all of us. Give yourself a pat on the back too, Britt, and while you're at it, give me one also.
How about kicking down some dineros for senior Lin?;)

Hey Paul - Why don't you have an avatar?

Paul,
You've probably know this already, but just to re-emphasize what
everybody had said, this site really rocks. I've been to other bike/club websites, enough to know that this SVRider site really
got it all together. With the Shout Box, members email hosting,
organized areas for photos, download files, etc., and search features, other sites pales by comparison. I like the look of the
forums. Ever saw how other sites allows pictures and goofy font
sizing and colors, it's a strain to the eye just trying to get the
posted messages. And since you do all this without the benefit of
compensation, I've just like to say a big THANK YOU!

I have some phots on cd of my little SV, trouble is that I'm computer illiterate and can only do the basics. I need to know how to resize the shots to upload and maybe make an Avatar with. If anyone has the patience to explain this process step by step I would be VERY grateful. :o Thanks in advance.

just upload it as your avatar, the site will auto size it.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I've gone for an avatar already available here, the file size of my pic is too large, I wanna try and reduce it but dunno if I'm able to? I've already cropped down the pic as much as possible.
