The ride turned out great. We got to the meet point with plenty of time, and thought we'd leave before the actual group arrived. But we were still there at 0800 due to an excess of lollygagging, but it turned out for the better, as the group was a well rounded bunch of riders and the ride went off without a hitch. And that makes one great ride. I LOVE GMR and GRR. These are two kewl roads!!

Great time, and good riding everyone! It was much better than what would have been in store for me in Irvine at the ERC. Good to meet the Johns and always fun to tear it up with Marck et al.

Hey, no whip-pan photos of the Duke!?! Damn guy probably rode by too fast, huh? You'd think he'd understand how to drive for pics already. Sheesh.

And you can ride the KTM more if you like it so much... that one mile stint didn't give you much seat time. Here's what we do; you ride the KTM, Will gets the Monster and I get the SV. Cool?

See you all soon, I hope. Will, drop me a line when you start the fork-swap, I'll lend some muscle. Let's do a ride next weekend!

I was thinkin of starting the swap next weekend. The SV is just over 4k miles past it's valve check interval.

Whoops!

Well, after we ride on Saturday (anyone?), let's rip into that mutha on Sunday. I've got the bent feeler gauges and we can dial those valves in right quick.

Then on to the front end swap. We'll make it happen like a NASCAR pitstop. Old bits off, clean them, new bits on, align and torque 'em down. Test ride by sunset!

NEXT!

I'd prolly be up for some twisties, barring any plans by Julia. I take up all her work weekends. But I definately want to start getting the bike apart, and getting the valves checked(and hopefully not adjusted)

Was actually contemplating a ride at ACH also, still would like to make it an early run though, probably even earlier.

Start a thread and round up the posse!

We could do ACH to AFH to UBT and then backtrack to AFH to LBT... a route that I used to do a lot. I also enjoy Aliso Canyon and the little Mexican restaurant at the other end.

Those routes cover most of the good roads up there strung back to back, and both directions for variety.

Is there a "SoCalSV" ACH route that's popular?

And here's the 2nd vote to go early, if only because it's supposed to be in the 90's again and I'd love to avoid the Serious Sweats if possible.

Bring it!

Evan,

Thought this map -courtesy of Hidden Springs Cafe- might help understand some of the acronyms...LSD, CRS, BLT...:-)

Yeah, I was speaking in code there for a while, sorry. Turns out, Nukleon wants to do a similar ride that same day, so go on over to his thread and it is a bit clearer.

For the record:

ACH = Angeles Crest Highway
AFH = Angeles Forest Highway (that left at the top of the hill, near the tourist turnout)
UBT = Upper Big Tujunga (between AFH and ACH, also called "9-mile road")
LBT = Lower Big Tujunga, which connects AFH back to Sunland near the 210.

Sorry for any confusion, next time I'll take the time to say what i mean. I know you can't read my mind, yet.
