Twistiest way to Palomar from the north?

what's the best (twistiest) way to get to Palomar from say the 15 and the 91? Anyone got ideas? think 60 to 10 to banning down through Idyllwild or 74 E. where from there though74 371, 79 to 76? any can't miss roads in there? well worth it alternatives to the numbered highways above? it doesn't seem worth it to cruise down the 15 the whole way, do palomar and then go all the way back up the freeway. thanks

15 & 91 huh?...well, I 've ridden some of these roads , but the goal would be to get to the 79, thru Warner Springs to the 76.
Turn rt on to 76 and turn rt again onto East Grade Rd.( fast side) and them up to Mothers....here goes mapquest's and my best guess.......
a)I-15 south to Cajalco Rd - Left turn heading east on Cajalco Rd
b) Cajalco turns into Ramona Exspwy, take it to North State St., Turn Rt heading South.
c) North State St to Cactus Valley Rd, Turn Left heading East
d) Cactus Valley to Sage Rd. , Turn Rt , heading south.
e)Sage will run into the 79 , Turn left , heading east
f) 79 thru Warner Springs to the 76, turn rt heading West, turn rt onto East Grade road - good luck!

Chk the weather before you leave - Warner Springs area has some T-storms usually in the afternoon.

Hey, that sounds like a great route... I usually just ride over Ortega Highway to the 15, then go South to 79.

If you head East from Lake Elsinore on the 74, what road could you take South to get to the 79?

What is the weather report up in the mountains anyways??? Heard Laguna got more snow !!! Haven't been up there since the last snow...

Jim - try the weather underground, and also ride reports". Post facto notes about conditions on roads, and in areas that people put up on this, and other boards.

Grew up in lake elsinore myself If you want a direct route to 79 from ortega but avoiding the freeways;
1.when you come out of the mountains turn south (right) onto Grand.
2. left on Clinton Keith (end of Grand)
3. right on Palomar(first right and becomes washington)
4.Left on Ivy
5. right on jefferson
6. Jefferson becomes 79 after a little left hander at the very south end of temecula where there's a shell station and AMPM to fill up on... Just be careful of the Harley dealership on the left before the light... I bought my first buell from there and from experience I tell you... BAD THINGS HAPPEN THERE!!!!
