Wow, I never knew tires did that!! Well, their tires, not mine! That was pretty cool!

They're designed to do that. It gives the car a little extra "snap" off the line. Like pulling back a rubberband and letting it go.
Think I learned all that from a Discovery Channel show. Crazy how much technology goes into those tires.

I also "Heard" on the same Discovery Channel show that the tires "Stand Up" and act as a high gear as the tires gain height.

Yes, that is true. The taller the rear tire, the higher top speed you will have. A bike with a 180mm rear tire (taller) and a 45 tooth rear sproket will have a higher top speed than it will when it has a 160mm rear tire (shorter) and a 45 tooth rear sproket.

Let's see if we can't shoe-horn in a 240 onto the back rim of my SV!

that was a cool video. 1000 frames per second is pretty sick. 8000 rpms at 1000 fps... wait a minute, that's too much math now. well, cool video.

Yeah...the centrifical forces stretch the thing out like a runner band... it's a trip to watch them burn out in slow motion. Drag racing at that level is just crazy...the amount of power you're dealing with and the way they get it to transfer to the ground is amazing... yet it's sooo boring to watch after the first few times.

Yea very cool video, but just think of all the other parts that have to handle all that power to make those tires do that.
